Carolyn Obringer
Carolyn Ann Obringer, 88, of Fort Recovery, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at her home.
She was born on February 11, 1935, in St. Joe to the late Carl and Ann (Nieberding) King.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome "Jerry" J. Obringer, whom she married on June 29, 1957, and who passed away on June 1, 2021; her children, Jim Obringer and Mary Rudemiller; her sister and brother-in-law, Janet (Jim) Price; her sister-in-law Jackie King; and her in-laws, Joseph Obringer, Alvira (Harold) Kaiser, Rosemary (Victor) Metzger, Sr. Casilda Obringer, Werner (Joan) Obringer, Edward (Dorothy) Obringer, and Wilson Denney.
Carolyn is survived by her children, Dan (Cindy) Obringer of Minster, Mark (Annette) Obringer of Centerville, Paul (Mindy) Obringer of Bowling Green, Anne (Phil) Thobe of Maria Stein, Jane (Vaughn) Hipple of Coldwater, and Sarah (Doug) Jansen of Carthagena; her son-in-law, Dave Rudemiller of Cincinnati; her Finnish daughter, Kaija Parvianen; her grandchildren, Nick (Trish) Rudemiller, Elyse (Kyle) Sutton, Matthew (Katie) Obringer, Randy (Kelly) Obringer, Doug Obringer, Rachel (Jesse) Maag, Ashley Obringer, Mara and Adam, Bethany (Brian) Livingston, Nathan (Rachel) Thobe, Michelle (Brent) Westerheide, Dylan (Mindi) Thobe, Ryan (Natalie) Thobe, Elizabeth (Jacob) Schwieterman, Megan Hipple, Amanda Hipple, Laura Hipple, Theresa Hipple, James Jansen, Rose (Chase) Bruggeman, Isabelle Jansen, John Jansen, Grace Jansen, and Peter Jansen; her great grandchildren, Charlotte Obringer, Cayden, Clark, Jack, and Brady Maag, Alec, Aria, Corbin, and Carson Livingston, Nova, Eleonor, and Jack Westerheide, Will and Emberly Thobe, Louis Thobe, and Eloise Schwieterman; her siblings, Jim King of Coldwater, Ruth King of Centerville, Ron (Connie) King of Alabama, and Dennis (Carrie) King of Tennessee; and her in-laws, Dorothy Denney of New Jersey, Ralph (Charlene) Obringer of Coldwater, and Carl (Mary) Obringer of Fort Recovery.
Carolyn was a 1953 graduate of St. Henry High School, where she was the class valedictorian. She spent her life caring for her family, both as a homemaker and a dedicated farm wife. Carolyn was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, where she was a member of the choir, ladies sodality, and taught CCD for over 40 years. She also spent many years volunteering for the Center for Neurological Development.
In her free time, Carolyn enjoyed being outdoors. She was an avid gardener, growing both vegetables and flowers. Carolyn liked going fishing, playing softball, playing cards, and most importantly, spending time with her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at St. Peter Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Guests may visit with Carolyn's family on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Thursday, from 8:30 AM until 9:45 AM, at Brockman Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery.
