Minster pulls away for sectional win over New Knoxville
By Gary R. Rasberry
MINSTER - For the first 1 ½ quarters, New Knoxville was giving Minster all it could handle.
Then the Wildcats flipped the switch on defense, holding the Rangers to just one point over the next eight minutes and pulling away for a 49-25 victory in the Division IV girls basketball sectional final at Wildcat Gymnasium on Saturday night. [More]
ROCKFORD - The Parkway girls basketball team snuffed out a Wayne Trace rally and claimed a Division III sectional title with a 44-30 victory over the Raiders Saturday night at the Panther Gymnasium.
ST. HENRY - St. Henry's offense took a few minutes to warm up on Saturday, but its defense was on point from the jump and Waynesfield-Goshen never got any momentum.
St. Marys brought home two championships and will send six wrestlers to the next round from the Division II boys wrestling sectional on Saturday at Defiance High School.
Ten local wrestlers earned podium spots as the girls competed at pre-regional tournaments on Sunday in preparations for next week's Marysville regional. The top four placers advance.
