Wilma Baumer
Wilma B. Baumer, age 94 of McCartyville, Ohio, died on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at Elmwood Assisted Living, New Bremen.
She was born on July 5, 1929 in St. Henry to the late Frank & Rose (Faulke) Schmitmeyer. She married Lawrence Baumer on April 14, 1951 and he preceded her in death on January 1, 2007.
She is survived by children: David & Peg Baumer, McCartyville; Mike & Marilyn Baumer, Bellbrook; Patrick & Sharon Baumer, Noblesville, Ind.; Cindy & Ron Vondenhuevel, Minster; Gary & Lynn Baumer, McCartyville; 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren, sister Dorothy Jutte, New Bremen, brother Don Schmitmeyer, Anna.
She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, in-laws: Don Jutte, Doris Schmitmeyer and Andrew & Maxine Baumer.
Wilma was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, McCartyville, the Rosary Altar Sodality and the Shelby County Farm Bureau. She volunteered at Anna Schools, Fair Haven Nursing Center. She taught religion and was a Eucharistic Minister. She was a farmer's wife and enjoyed quilting, canning, gardening and traveling with her husband Lawrence but she loved spending time with her family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 17, 2024 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, McCartyville. Burial to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster on Thursday, May 16, 2024 from 4 to 7 p.m. and at Sacred Heart Church on Friday, May 17 from 9 to 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grand Lake Hospice.
