Louis Borger
Louis J. Borger, age 96, of St. Marys, Ohio, passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, May 13, 2024 at Vancrest of St. Marys.
He was born December 3, 1927 in St. Henry to the late Farry and Cecelia (Schmalstig) Borger. On February 14, 1953 he married Beatrice A. (Gross) Borger and she survives at the residence in St. Marys.
Other survivors include his children, Sharon (Nicholas) Schroeder, Ottawa; Linda Green, Wapakoneta; Debra (Paul) Schumann, Minster; and Chris Borger, New Bremen; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Bergman, Celina and Mildred (Louis) Homan, Dayton; and a brother-in-law, Jack Birkmeyer, Celina.
He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Gerald (Liz) Borger, Alfred (Dorothy) Borger, Lucille (Urban) Berning, Roselyn Birkmeyer and an infant brother, Elmer Borger; and a brother-in-law, Victor Bergman.
Louis proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War era. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber after 41 years of service. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys, St. Marys American Legion Post #323 and St. Marys K of C #1800.
Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 17, 2024 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys with Fr. Rob Muhlenkamp officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. at the church Friday morning. Interment at Gethsemane Cemetery in St. Marys will immediately follow the Memorial Mass.
