Ohio spends a fortune on lottery tickets

CELINA - Ohioans are the eighth biggest lottery spenders in the nation, plopping down $9.52 weekly or an average of $495 in 2023, a recent study by a lottery news publication shows.
Ohio had total lottery sales of $5.8 billion in 2023, according to Lottery Geeks, which analyzed data from the most recent lottery sales report from the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries and factored in each state's population for its study. [More]

MINSTER - A contractor struck a gas line at Nidec Minster on Monday morning, forcing an evacuation of the plant and several blocks for about two hours.
FORT RECOVERY - Village councilors on Monday moved to promote patrol officer Haiden Stidam and utility department operator Mitch Leuthold.
At the regular village council meeting, councilors suspended the rules to amend the wage ordinance for utility and police employees.
COLDWATER - Village councilors plan to ask voters in the upcoming general election for an additional 0.5% traditional income tax levy to generate more revenue for street improvements and employee wages.
CELINA- Two people appeared in Mercer County Common Pleas Court on Monday on drug possession charges.
Shayla R. Prater, 33, appeared on one count of possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony; and one count of illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia, a fourth-degree misdemeanor.
