Marilee Eversman
Marilee S. Eversman, a lifetime resident of the New Knoxville area, entered eternal life with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Sunday, May 26, 2024 at 3:15 p.m.
Born August 23, 1937 at the Settlage family farm to parents Noah and Selma (Wibbeler) Settlage, she was the fourth of six children. While in high school, her mother died. Her father's second marriage was to Grace (Engel) Kruse.
While in eighth grade, she broke her leg, and one of the boys taking turns bringing schoolbooks to her while recuperating at home caught her eye. Roger P. Eversman became her sweetheart and they were married June 24, 1956, at E&R Church, (now known as First Church of New Knoxville) by her brother-in-law Reverend Reuben Eversman and Dr. Bode. Roger passed on Father's Day, June 21, 2020.
To them were born five children, all surviving: Linda (Jack Klaer), Fred (Anita Eversman), Sharon (Jeffery Colson), Rose (Ken Cline), and Larry (Kim Eversman). They blessed her with 15 grandchildren, along with step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended families including foster children. She especially loved her little people and was pleased to know that 2024 would bring four more babies to the family. Marilee is also survived by her siblings Lester (Helen) Settlage, Grace Roediger, Joyce (Allan) Smith, sister-in-law Peggy Settlage, sister-in-law Lois Eversman, and many nieces and nephews.
Marilee loved flowers. Living on for 24 years after major surgery in 2000, her motivation to heal was to get the farm flower beds ready for that year's New Knoxville Garden Club tour of gardens. She and Roger enjoyed travel and cruises. She enjoyed baking, sewing, playing piano duets with her sister Grace, and for many years collected and made many, many dolls. She also made over twenty quilts for her children and grandchildren. She loved seeing her little people.
She had worked at the former Kuck's IGA, after 25 years retired from New Knoxville School, then worked other part-time food service jobs including Otterbein St. Marys and Heritage Manor in Minster. After Roger passed, she enjoyed the widows group at Immanuel Church of Kettlersville, classmate get-togethers, and most recently the Auglaize County Council on Aging.
Marilee was baptized, confirmed, and married in her church. The faith and Christian life she passed on to her family was very important to her, and she will be remembered in a Celebration of Life at 11 a.m. Monday, June 10, in the sanctuary of the First Church of New Knoxville, Pastor Joel Bucklin officiating.
Visiting and fellowship will be both two hours before and after the service at the church. Her remains will be interred at Pilger Ruhe cemetery, New Knoxville immediately following the service.
Preferred memorial is any ministry of the First Church of New Knoxville.
Memories and condolences may be sent to her family via Millerfuneralhomes.net.
