Billy Slemmons
Billy Slemmons, 88, of Saint Marys, died 9:25 A.M. Monday, July 22, 2024, at Vancrest of Saint Marys.
He was born October 30, 1935, in Saint Marys, the son of Arthur and Ila (Miller) Slemmons. He married Carolyn Katterhenry on March 8, 1958, and she survives in Saint Marys.
He is survived by his sons: Jody (Marilyn) Slemmons of Saint Marys, Darren (Sheila) Slemmons of Saint Marys; by his grandchildren: Andrew Slemmons; Amy (Kevin)Hart; Abigail (Coty)Pendergraft; Mitchell Slemmons;and step-grandchildren: Andy (Tera)Nagel; David (Amber)Nagel; Kayla Nagel. He is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren and 9 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister, Marilyn Selby and his granddaughter-in-law Randi (Macklem)Slemmons.
Billy was a 1954 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School and a veteran of the US Navy. He served as the Assistant Superintendent of Water and Waste Water for 31 years at the City of Saint Marys, and later served as the Technical Supervisor of Water and Wastewater for Willshire, Ohio.
He was elected and served as 3rd Ward Councilman for the City of Saint Marys from 1996-2013, and was a member of the Auglaize County Democrat Club. He was a member and had served as president of the Public Employees Retirement Group,Auglaize County Chapter 9. He served on the City of Saint Marys Tree Commission and was a substitute bus driver for Saint Marys City Schools, and was a member of American Legion Post 323.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Saint Marys. He and Carolyn were long-time members of the St. Marys Tri-Squares Square Dance Club. He was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan.

Funeral rites will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, July 27, 2024, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Pastor Keith Stuck, officiant. Burial, with military honors presented by American Legion Post 323 and VFW Post 9289, will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
