John is also survived by his five children: Jared (Caroline) Ranly of Maria Stein, Jesse (Sandy) Ranly of Maria Stein, Jordan (Erin) Ranly of Plain City, Justin (Kim) Ranly of Columbus, and Jamee (Ryan) Thobe of Cassella. He was a loving grandfather to Hope, Ella, Ben, Nick, Ava, Max, Reid, Addison, Vince, George, Lucy, Marley, Everly, and Lennon. His siblings and in-laws include Kathleen (Leon) Homan of New Bremen, Jeffery (Barbara) Ranly of Dayton, Peg (Steve) Hirsch of Massillon, Lisa (Terry) Moeller of Cassella, Joel (Sherri) Ranly of St. Henry, Martin (Carol) Ranly of Richland, MI, Matthew (Lynda) Ranly of New Bremen, Jason (Becky) Ranly of Maria Stein, Richard (Nancy) Rosenbeck of Kentucky, Chris (Tony) Prenger of Maria Stein, Angie Hueker of Chickasaw, Joyce (Mark) Fritz of Coldwater, Barb (Wayne) Hein of Chickasaw, Dan (Beth) Rosenbeck of Chickasaw, Ron (Diane) Rosenbeck of Trinity, IN, Steve (Mary Beth) Rosenbeck of Chickasaw, and Joe (Linda) Giere of Versailles.
John is preceded in death by his granddaughter Paige Thobe, his sisters Kristina Ranly and Lora Ranly, and in-laws Jack Hueker and Margie Giere.
John spent his early years in home construction with his father-in-law, Paula Rosenbeck and working for Buschur Electric, where he honed his skills to build and fix almost anything. He worked at the Dannon plant in Minster for 29 years and during retirement enjoyed traveling the country installing for Forty Nine Degrees. In addition to his career, John was passionate about music; he played lead guitar and sang for the band Double Effort for 15 years. He cherished time spent with his family, loved watching his grandchildren perform and play sports at Marion Local and Jonathan Alder, and was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, Cincinnati Reds, and The Ohio State Buckeyes. He spent several years coaching the boys Little League Teams. He loved playing cards and of course winning! You could say he was competitive but that probably was an understatement! He was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Cassella and Catholic Financial Life (formerly Catholic Knights of America).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Cassella, with burial to follow in Nativity Cemetery.
