* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 12:40 PM EDT Sunday the stage was 13.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 13.0 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage just after midnight tonight. - Flood stage is 13.0 feet.

David Puthoff
David Russell Puthoff, age 82 of Celina, Ohio passed away on September 1, 2024 at the Celina Manor Nursing Home. He was born the son of the late Russell G. and Vinola (Hemmelgarn) Puthoff on January 27, 1942 in Celina, Ohio. On January 7, 1977 he married CJ Silvers, who survives, living in Celina.
Survivors include his two children; Jim (Mary) Puthoff of Celina, Cindy (Tony) Moorman of Philothea, seven beloved grandchildren; Dylan Long, Ilea Puthoff, Mackenzie Puthoff, Piper Puthoff, Andrew Moorman, Russell Moorman, William Moorman and three sisters and brothers-in-law Jeanette Puthoff of Kissimmee, Florida, Denise (Ted) Laux, Diana (Keith) Moran and his sister-in-law Rita Puthoff all of Celina.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his two brothers Daniel Puthoff and Johnny Puthoff.
David graduated from the Immaculate Conception Catholic High School with the Class of 1960. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1964 until 1966 during the Vietnam War. When he returned from the service he worked as a horse farrier shoeing horses, and worked for Matt Schwieterman running equipment. Then he became a heavy equipment operator with the Operating Engineers and had a part in building every highway in Ohio, or so he said. In the early 1980's he started working for the Mercer County Highway Department. He started out plowing snow and worked his way up to county bridge superintendent. He retired in 2008.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Celina, Celina V. F. W. Post #5713 and Celina American Legion Post #210, where he was on the drill team. David was also a member of the Celina Eagles Grand Lake Aerie #1291.
He enjoyed raising animals especially donkeys and horses. He also spent a lot of time working around his woods, tinkering in the barn, and going to sales to find good deals. He loved his family dearly and will be missed by all who knew him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30a.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina, with Fr. Prashanth Bandanadham officiating. Burial will follow in the Mercer Memory Gardens Cemetery in Celina, with Military Honors provided by the Celina American Legion Post and the Celina V. F. W. Post. A public visitation for family and friends will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at the Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina and from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
