Marlene Schmitmeyer
Marlene A. Schmitmeyer, 72, of Versailles, Ohio, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024 in her home.
She was born on November 4, 1951 in Coldwater, Ohio to the late Othmar & Alvira (Prenger) Evers. She married John B. Schmitmeyer on February 24, 1973 in St. Rose Catholic Church, St. Rose, Ohio; he survives in Versailles.
She is also survived by children: Doug & Cathy Schmitmeyer, Greenville; Kevin & LeAnn Schmitmeyer, Bradford; Sarah & Rob Davis, Troy; Johnny & Megan Schmitmeyer, Versailles; 18 grandchildren and one great grandchild on the way in November. She is also survived by brother Don & Jane Evers, North Star; in-laws: Pat & Cathy Schmitmeyer, Montezuma; Linda & Joe Giere, Versailles; Bob & Mary Schmitmeyer, Maria Stein; Marilyn & Ron Poeppelman, Ft. Loramie; Ann & Paul Barhorst, McCartyville; Lois & Dave Schwieterman, Celina; Jean & John Homan, New Bremen; Linda & Kevin Muhlenkamp, Bryant, IN; Steve & Karen Schmitmeyer, Maria Stein; and numerous nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother David, infant sister Doris, in-laws: Alma & Ernest Schmitmeyer, brother-in-law Joseph Schmitmeyer.
Marlene was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles, where she was a CCD teacher for many years. She was also lead of the Bereavement meal team for many years. She volunteered at Versailles Schools and was a member of the Versailles Eagles Auxiliary. She was a 1970 graduate of Marion Local Schools and was a homemaker and co-lead the Schmitmeyer Dairy. Marlene loved her grandchildren immensely and had a heart full of love.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles with burial in St. Valbert Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Russia on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 from 2 to 8 PM and on Wednesday September 25 from 9:00 to 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Center for Neurological Development and Ansonia Life Squad. Condolences may be left at www.hogenkampfh.com.
