Lawrence Obringer
Lawrence Obringer 'Obie', age 80, of Coldwater died on Friday, October 4, 2024 at Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater.
He was born on April 20, 1944 in Celina to the late Florus Obringer and Hilda Ranly. He was also preceded by stepmother Rosemary (Weber) Obringer. On October 30, 1965 in Celina Immaculate Conception Church, he married Diana (Ciesinski) Obringer and she survives in Coldwater.
He is also survived by children, Annette & Gary Hoying of Coldwater and Corey & Rachel Obringer of Wyoming, Ohio, grandchildren, Alexis (Justin) Feltz, Carly (Jordon) Harlamert, Brody Hoying, Maura Hoying, Steffi Hoying, Katie Obringer, and Ben Obringer; and 3 great grandchildren, Quinton, Tatum, and LJ.
He is also survived by siblings and in-laws, Ronald (Jane) Obringer of Mendon, Ken Obringer of Coldwater, Rose Obringer of Coldwater, and Greg Ciesinski of Celina.
He was preceded in death by a son, Tony Obringer, siblings and in-laws, Richard Obringer, Betty (Dan) McDonough, Jane (Charles) Johnson, Chris Obringer, and Nick Ciesinski, and mother-in-law, Dolores Ciesinski.
Larry retired after over 45 years owning Obringer's Barber Shop in Coldwater.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Larry was a veteran of the United States Army Reserve, the Coldwater American Legion, Coldwater Eagles, Celina Moose Lodge.
Larry had a love for supporting his grandchildren and great grandchildren in all their many activities. He was a lifelong fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Bengals and Coldwater Cavaliers. He was a member of the 1961 Coldwater Football undefeated Western Buckeye League championship team. Obie was the "self-proclaimed" Mayor of Kozy Campground, where he spent over 50 years enjoying camping and friendship.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10AM on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater. Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery.
Family will receive guests prior to mass from 9AM to 10AM on Saturday at Holy Trinity Church.
Following the service at the cemetery, friends are invited to join the family for luncheon and to celebrate the life of Obie at the Coldwater Eagles.
