The St. Marys boys golf team and Coldwater senior Tyler Overman wrapped up their season on the final day of the Division II state tournament on Monday at the North Course of Firestone Country Club in Akron.
The Roughriders, playing the state tournament for the first time since 2006, finished 12th overall with a two-day score of 710. After shooting a 353 during Sunday's first round, St. Marys fired a 357 on Monday.
Brennan Steger, the Western Buckeye League Golfer of the Year, led St. Marys with a 167 after shooting an 82 on Monday to go with his 85 on Sunday to finish 37th. Braylon Lampert finished with a 178 (85-93), Blake Dingledine had a 182 (91-91), Kadin Behr carded a 183 (92-91) and Haden Roby completed the lineup with a 189 (93-96).
Kettering Alter dominated Monday after holding just a one-shot lead on Ottawa Hills after the opening round. The Knights shot a blistering 290 on Monday to finish with a 598 to capture the state title. Ottawa Hills shot a 624 for second with Springfield Northwestern taking third with a 652.
Overman, the first Coldwater boys golfer to qualify for state, was one stroke better on Monday after shooting an 87 on Sunday, finishing with a 173 to tie for 50th place.
Alter's Matthew Kruesch shot a 6-under 66 on Monday to finish tied with first-round leader Finley Bartlett of Wyoming with matching 140s to share state medalist honors.
