Calvin Laborde Jr.
Calvin J. Laborde Jr., age 90 of Celina, Ohio passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at the Celina Manor Nursing Home.
He was born the son of the late Calvin J. Sr. and Lilliann (Rachal) Laborde on July 22, 1934 in New Orleans, LA. On April 18, 2009 he married Maria (Altieri) Breeding, who survives living in Celina.
He is also survived by his daughter Lisa (Danny) Breidenbach of Seminole, FL., his son Thomas (Patricia) Laborde of Apache Junction, AZ, Step daughter Kelli (Eric) Clausen of Celina, step son Michael (Kathy) Blevins of Celina. He leaves behind four grandchildren; Margaret Breidenbach, Ian Breidenbach, Brent Laborde, Miranda (Phil) Davis, six step grandchildren, a great grandchild Nathan Davis and his sister-in-law Maureen "Mo" Goetschius of Cornado, CA.
In addition to his parents Calvin was preceded in death by his first wife Nancy Goetschius, His brother Reave Paul Laborde, his sister Gertrude Laborde, brother-in-law Capt. Forrest Dale Goetschius and his Aunt and Uncle Mathilda (Louis) Armond.
Calvin proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1951 until he retired from the Navy in 1971. Then he was employed by McDonald Douglas in Wichita, KS as a security guard and assisting in manufacturing of the F-117 Nighthawk.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1800 and also held membership with the Celina American Legion Post #210 and the Celina V. F. W. Post #5713. He was a proud member of their Honor Guard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 13, 2025 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina, with Fr. Rob Muhlenkamp officiating. Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025 in the Dayton National Cemetery, with Military Honors.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for family and friends on Sunday, January 12, 2025 and before Mass on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina. The Knight of Columbus Council #1800 will hold a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.
