Cavs beat Parkway

With Allen East having picked up victories over both teams earlier, Parkway and Coldwater looked to pick up a win as the two Mercer County wrestling teams faced off in the final match of a triangular meet on Thursday night at the Palace.

Allen East defeated Coldwater 37-31 in their matchup, followed by the Mustangs beating Parkway 42-21 to wrap up its evening of action.

Coldwater picked up the the opening win with Tanner Stammen pinning Rhen Carpenter at 150 pounds. The Panthers came back as Jaden Foss pinned Gavin Kuhn at 157 and returning state qualifier Landon Younker getting the pin on Jordan Houser at 165. Jaden Green followed with a 9-0 major decision over Trent Westgerdes at 175 to make it 16-6 Parkway. Sam Rismiller snapped the Panther win streak with a pin on Gavin Garwood at 190 pounds before Coldwater picked up 18 points via three straight voids at 215, 285 and 106 to put Coldwater in front 30-16. After a double-void at 113, TJ Tewksberry scored a 19-2 technical fall over Brent Heuing at 120. Coldwater won two more bouts via the void, then Matt Uhlenhake pinned Jackson Ross at 138 to make it 48-21. Brady Hamilton wrapped up the evening for the Cavaliers with a 17-2 technical fall over Thomas Hague at 144.

"It was good to get a win over Parkway," said Coldwater coach Aaron Alig. "We had the tough loss to Allen East and responded well. The kids were on a mission after losing to Allen East in a close match."

Against Allen East, Younker and Hague earned pinfall wins. Coldwater got pins from Tyler Overman against Allen East.

"Gave up too many pins against Allen East," said Alig. "Our freshmen responded. We start five and none of them gave up pins tonight. They wrestled tough."

Coldwater hosts its annual Bob Sielski Memorial Invitational on Saturday. Parkway will make the trip to Convoy on Saturday for the Crestview Invitational.

Celina 50, Shawnee 17

The Bulldogs handed Shawnee its first loss of the season to improve to 3-1 in Western Buckeye League action at Lappin Gymnasium.

Luke Maxwell (157 pounds) and Wes Greber (175) earned pinfall wins for Celina with Noah Russell (150) and Matthias Eicher (165) finisning with major decisions.

Shawnee 45, Celina 42

The Indians rallied from a five-point deficit heading into the fourth quarter to pick up the win over the Bulldogs at the Fieldhouse in WBL play.

Celina led 34-29 after three quarters before Shawnee roared back, outscoring Celina 16-8 and hitting key free throws down the stretch to pick up the league win.

Alexis Whetstone led Shawnee with 13 points. Mya Williams scored five of her 11 points in the fourth quarter.

Brooke Baucher led Celina with 12 points. Kenlee Holstad added 11 points.

Celina travels to New Knoxville for a noon matinee on Saturday.

Fort Recovery 42, New Bremen 41 (OT)

The Indians outscored the Cardinals 5-4 in the extra session to win a back-and-forth MAC battle at Fort Site Fieldhouse.

Fort Recovery led 18-3 after one quarter, but a 13-2 second quarter for New Bremen cut the margin to 20-15 at the half. The Indians led 27-26 after three quarters, but the Cardinals were able to secure the tie at the buzzer to force overtime. In the OT, Cameron Muhlenkamp and Makenna Huelskamp sandwiched a Karlie Niekamp free throw as the Cardinals were held to four Marina Nelson free throws.

Bridget Homan led Fort Recovery with 12 points. Niekamp added 10 points.

Nelson finished with a game-high 17 points while Stella Patch added 13 points.

The Roughriders outscored the Redskins 20-12 in the final quarter to rally for the win in the battle of Auglaize County rivals at Grand Lake Health Systems Court.

Wapakoneta led 20-13 at the half and were up 31-26 after three quarters before St. Marys came back as Claire Turner scored seven of her nine points in the fourth quarter.

Reese Rable finished with 14 to lead St. Marys. Sophia Menker added 10 points.

The Tigers held the Wildcats to just eight points in the second half to rally for the win at Versailles.

Minster led 21-17 at the half, but were held to just four points in the third quarter as Versailles went in front 30-21 after three quarters.

The Rangers picked up the MAC victory over the Blue Jays at Arnzen Gymnasium in Delphos.

Celina/Coldwater/Jay County double dual

The Bulldogs and Cavaliers traveled to Portland for a double dual format meet with the Patriots.

Jay County's boys defeated Coldwater 145-40 and Celina 135-66 with Celina getting the 76-42 win over Coldwater. In the girls meet, Jay County swept the Cavaliers (134-75) and Bulldogs (152-72) with Coldwater edging Celina 91-86.

Kelly May picked up wins in the individual medley and 500-yard freestyle to lead Coldwater. Keria Knapke won the 100 free, Claire Bertke took first in the 100 butterfly and Averi Kahlig won the 100 breaststroke for the Cavaliers with the Coldwater 400 freestyle relay also winning.

Celina's Jackson Newcomb won in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly with teammate Aaron Doseck winning the 100 backstroke and the 200 freestyle relay also winning. Coldwater's boys got wins from Noah Obringer (IM) and Brandon Quinn (500 freestyle).

St. Marys-Wapakoneta

The Roughrider girls improved to 6-0 in WBL play with a 2,506-2,429 win over the Redskins at Astro Lanes.

Kallie McKinley bowled a 369 series to lead St. Marys. Kaleigh Caywood added a 344 series.

The St. Marys boys lost 2,965-2,677 to the Redskins. Damian Webb bowled a 370 series.
