Joni Blomeke
Joni K. (Traxler) Blomeke, age 68, of Bluffton, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Lutheran Health in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
She was born on June 12, 1956, in Jay County, Indiana, to Sally (Yeager) Traxler of Fort Recovery, and the late James Traxler.
In addition to her mother, Joni is survived by her husband of 44 years, Charles "Chuck" Blomeke, whom she married on October 30, 1980; her stepson, Jonathan (Lyn) Blomeke of Geneva, Indiana; her grandchildren, Corbin (Stephanie) Blomeke, Ethan Blomeke, and Madalyn Blomeke; her great grandson, Fletcher Blomeke; her brothers, Michael Traxler of Fort Recovery and Thomas (Becky) Traxler of Connecticut; her nephew, Jeremy Traxler; her in-laws, Pat (Marion) Blomeke Jerry (Diane) Blomeke, Linda (Craig) Walker, Sharon (Rob) Erman, Denise (Jeff) Sexton, Betty Blomeke; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In addition to her father, Joni was preceded in death by her in-laws, Steve Blomeke and Dave Blomeke.
Joni was a 1974 graduate of Fort Recovery High School. In her early years, Joni worked for CTS in Berne until her health began to decline. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, reading a good book, sewing, and finding great bargains at garage sales. Joni was a fantastic cook, and her grandchildren always looked forward to her sugar cookies.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery, with Father Joseph Pasala officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Per Joni's request, there will be no visitation.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Cancer Association of Mercer County.
