Brown, Burden named top MAC bowlers

Fort Recovery sophomore Deanna Brown and Coldwater senior Austin Burden earned the Midwest Athletic Conference's top honors in bowling as the All-MAC bowling teams for boys and girls were released on Monday.

Fort Recovery's Deanna Brown was voted the Bowler of the Year by the Midwest Athletic Conference coaches on Monday.

Brown was named the girls Bowler of the Year in helping the Indians repeat as conference co-champions after finishing the league season at 6-0 and finishing second to Versailles in the conference tournament to create a co-championship with the Tigers for the second straight season.

Brown tied for second in average this season with a 183.7, had the second-highest game this season with a 256 and the highest series during the season with 491.

Coldwater's Austin Burden was voted the Bowler of the Year by the Midwest Athletic Conference coaches on Monday.

Burden was named the boys Bowler of the Year as the Cavaliers won the regular season and tournament titles.

Burden led the MAC in average with a 217.6. His season best game was a 259 and best series a 472.

Fort Recovery coach Alison Rosengrant and Versailles coach Tyler Phlipot shared the Coach of the Year award for girls bowling and veteran Coldwater coach Rick Hartings was named the boys' Coach of the Year that goes to the coaches of the championship teams.
