Marcella Hemmelgarn
Marcella Hemmelgarn, age 106, was born in Sharpsburg, Ohio on December 31,1918, and passed away peacefully on February 12, 2025, at Briarwood Village in Coldwater, Ohio. Her parents were Henry and Emma (Huber) Kaiser. She married Richard, the love of her life, on May 6, 1939. Before his death on September 12, 1999, they celebrated 60 years of marriage. Dad's parents were Joseph and Anna (Rammel) Hemmelgarn.
Mom is survived by her children: Virginia Klenke, Alice Hemmelgarn, Marjorie and Douglas Brookhart, Edward Hemmelgarn and Janice Hammond, Gerald and Cynthia (Overholt) Hemmelgarn, Joseph Hemmelgarn, and daughter-in-law Barbara Tierney (Ronald Hemmelgarn).
Preceding her in death were daughter Joanne (Kenneth) Ford, son Ronald Hemmelgarn, son-in-law Ivo Klenke, and grandchildren Deborah Ford and Derek Hemmelgarn.
In addition, she is survived by twenty grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. All of them were loved by Mom. She was able to attend many of their baptisms, graduations, and weddings.
She was an avid card player and baker. We all enjoyed her many pies and cookies. She loved sending cards along with an enclosed letter.
All her brothers, sisters and in-laws preceded her in death: Stella and Lawrence Broering, Lee and Alma Kaiser, Luetta and John Reichert, Edward and Dorthea Kaiser, Bernard and Mary Kaiser, Joseph and Adella Kaiser, Albert Kaiser, Richard and Eileen Kaiser, Rosella and Walter Hierholzer and Herbert and Rosemary Kaiser, and in-laws Harold and Alma Hemmelgarn.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Celina, as well as the Ladies Altar Rosary Society and the Ladies Auxiliary. Mom and Dad enjoyed working with the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Mom dedicated plentiful years to being a homemaker, during which she raised eight children. In later years she worked at Goldstein's Department Store.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 22, at Immaculate Conception Church in Celina. Burial will follow at St. Marys Cemetery in Celina. Calling Hours are 2:00 to 7:00 PM, Friday, February 21, and from 9:00 to 9:45 AM on Saturday, at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina.
Memorial Contributions may be given to: Immaculate Conception Church for general Parish purposes, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, or EverHeart Hospice.
