Robin Willoughby
Robin A. Willoughby, 72, of St. Marys, OH died at 5:48 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2025 at JTDM Hospital, following an extended illness.
She was born October 14, 1952 in Celina, OH to Vernon and Mary (Lengerich) Willoughby.
Survivors include: close companion Ruth Carpenter of St. Marys, OH; sister Anita (Brad) Barton of Lyndhurst, OH; niece Abby Barton of St. Marys, OH; niece Dr. Elizabeth (Scott) Ulrich of St. Marys, OH; great nieces and nephews: Katie (Brent) Miller, Scott Walden, Edison Ulrich, Otto Ulrich, August Ulrich; and Ruth's children: Juli (Kent) Smith of Naples, FL, Penny Young of St. Marys, OH, William H. (Pam Ayers) Garrett of Wapakoneta, OH; and Ruth's grandchildren: Taylor (Aaron) Taylor, Heather Smith, and Bailey (Steven) Padilla.
Preceded in death by: parents Vernon and Mary Willoughby; and brother Craig Willoughby.
She was a graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School (Class of 1971). She retired from the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center (Tank Plant) in Lima, OH, where she worked as a materials handler. Robin served as a member of the St. Marys City Council for more than 20 years, representing the residents of the Fourth Ward. She also served as Chairperson of the Auglaize Co. Democratic Party executive committee. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, VFW Post # 9289, American Legion Post # 323 and Eagles Lodge Aerie # 767, all in St. Marys. Her favorite pastimes included fishing, researching history, visiting with family and friends, keeping up-to-date with current events and discussing politics.
Robin will be remembered for her outgoing personality, friendly demeanor and sense of humor. She understood the value of laughter and its importance in dealing with people; many left her presence feeling uplifted. She never knew a stranger, and had an uncanny ability to make others feel welcomed and respected. A dedicated public servant, she followed in her father's footsteps in representing her constituents in the best manner possible. Robin exhibited an unwavering commitment to her family, her friends and the community of St. Marys, Ohio.
Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. Friday March 7, 2025 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys.
Visitation 4 - 8 p.m. on Thursday March 6, 2025 at the Miller - Long & Folk Funeral Home 314 W. High Street in St. Marys.
