Over the past few weeks, high school seniors from the area have been signing national letters of intent with colleges and universities to continue their education and athletic careers.
Here is a list of recent athletes who will be moving on.
Parkway's Riley Bolton, center, signs his letter of intent with Defiance College to play football. Seated with Riley are his parents Tabitha and Greg Bolton.
The senior offensive and defensive lineman will join the Yellow Jackets next season after a four-year career with the Panthers.
Bolton will major in business, focusing in marketing, and will add a minor in music.
Defiance, coached by Celina graduate Bill Nickell, completed its first season in NAIA after leaving NCAA Division III. Playing an independent schedule this season before fully joining the Mid-States Football Association's Mideast Division, the Yellow Jackets finished 4-7, wrapping the season with a 23-21 win over rival Bluffton in the programs' final meeting.
Bolton recorded eight tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack while forcing a fumble playing defense last season.
Parkway's Trevor Stearns, seated center, signs with Ashland University to compete in track and field. Seated with Trevor are his parents David and Sara Stearns. Standing are Parkway track and field coaches Don Trisel, Jenny Barrett and Bill Halter.
A standout in cross country, basketball and track, Stearns will head to Ashland to run for an Eagles squad that recently finished second at the Great Midwest Athletic Conference indoor championships and was third at last season's outdoors.
Stearns will major in criminal justice at Ashland.
Stearns earned All-MAC honors last season in the 400-meter dash with a third-place finish at the conference championships.
Parkway's Shay Boroff, seated center, signs her letter of intent to attend the University of Saint Francis and play golf. Seated with Shay are her parents Sheila and John Boroff, who also serves as Parkway's golf coach. Standing is brother Kaden Boroff.
Coming off a tremendous season, Boroff heads to Fort Wayne to join a Cougars program looking to improve.
Boroff, whose father John is head coach of the Panthers, will major in advanced medical imaging.
Saint Francis is coming off a seventh-place finish in the Crossroads League championships, finishing with a 1,076 in the 54-hole event. The Cougars open the spring portion of their schedule on April 4 at the Polar Bear Invitational hosted by Ohio Northern at Hidden Creek in Lima.
Boroff finished her senior season as the runner-up in the Midwest Athletic Conference Golfer of the Year standings and finishing second in the conference tournament with a 93. Boroff finished third at the Division II sectional with a 90 to qualify for the district, where she tied for 13th at Sycamore Springs with a 90.
New Knoxville's Brynn Egbert, seated center, signs with Walsh University and will play volleyball for the Cavaliers. Seated with Brynn are her parents Shawn and Jen Egbert. Standings are New Knoxville head coach Madison Hoehne and assistant coach Kenzie Leffel.
The multi-sport standout for the Rangers will focus on volleyball after signing with the NCAA Division II program in North Canton.
The Cavaliers finished 18-13 this season and 10-6 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, losing to Ohio Dominican in five sets in the G-MAC semifinals.
New Knoxville finished 16-11 last season and had a big tournament run in the newly formed Division VII, losing to Tiffin Calvert in the regional finals at Kansas Lakota.
Egbert led the Rangers with 4.1 kills per set and one block per set to go along with 2.8 digs per set and 28 service aces. Egbert earned first team honors in both the MAC and District 8 Coaches Association and was selected to the third team by the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association.
