Four Minster seniors made college commitments on Wednesday, signing national letters of intent in sports like baseball, softball, football and track and field.
Will Frimel, seated center, will attend Ohio Northern University and will join the Polar Bear football and track and field teams.
A standout lineman and thrower, Frimel will get a chance to do both when he heads to Ada this summer.
Will Frimel will get a chance to team up with his brother Alex, who also plays football and throws for the Polar Bears. Alex Frimel, a junior, finished 15th in the shot out at the Ohio Athletic Conference indoor track and field championships earlier this month. Ohio Northern finished third at the OAC indoor meet.
The Polar Bears football team, coached by Andy Fries, finished 5-5 overall and 4-5 in the OAC.
On the football field, Frimel's work on the front line helped the Wildcats reach the Division VII regional final this season, losing to eventual champion Marion Local. The Wildcats gave the Flyers their closest games this season. Will Frimel earned first team All-Ohio honors as an offensive lineman. In the spring, Frimel was third in the shot put at the MAC championships and qualified for state for the second straight season, finishing 14th.
Brooklyn Osterloh, seated center, will attend Ohio Northern University and play softball for the Polar Bears.
After taking control as the main pitcher for Minster this past season, Osterloh will look to finish strong in her high school career before heading to Ada to join a Polar Bear squad vying for an OAC title this season.
Osterloh was the ace of the Wildcats last season as the team finished 29-2 and reached the Division IV state semifinals. Osterloh was 22-2 with a 1.83 earned run avearge. In 149 1/3 innings, Osterloh struck out 173 batters and had a WHIP of 1.00. At the plate, Osterloh batted .333 with three home runs and 16 runs batted in. Osterloh was one of five Wildcats to earn first team All-Midwest Athletic Conference honors as Minster ran the league table at 7-0 and was voted first team All-Ohio by the Ohio High School Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association.
The Polar Bears finished last season 24-20 and 10-8 in the OAC. ONU is 2-6 to start the season.
Addi Inskeep, seated center, will attend Adrian College in Michigan and play softball for the Bulldogs.
A standout at third base for the Wildcats, Inskeep will head to Michigan to join a Bulldogs program that will look to bounce back after losing two straight games in last year's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament after going 11-5 in league play last season.
Inskeep provided a big bat in an offensively dominant Minster batting order last season. Inskeep was second on the team with a .457 batting average with a team-high 11 home runs, 12 doubles and 56 RBI with 52 runs scored. Inskeep also led the team with 19 stolen bases.
Inskeep was selected the MAC Position Player of the Year last season and earned first team All-Ohio honors.
Adrian finished 28-12 last season and has started this season 7-3 heading into the Pioneer Classic in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, that begins today.
Rylan Edwards, center, signs his letter of intent to play baseball at Wright State University-Lake Campus.
Edwards had a solid spring for Mike Wiss' Wildcats and then continued solid play into the summer as he helped Minster win the program's first-ever ACME Baseball Congress championship, singling home the third and final run of the eighth inning in the Wildcats' 3-0 win over Defiance at Veterans Field in Coldwater.
Playing left field, Edwards batted .279 last spring with 16 runs scored and 14 RBI as Minster finished 21-6 and shared the MAC title with Versailles after both teams went 8-1 in league play.
After finishing 22-24 last season, the Lakers have started the season 2-5 after losing 13-10 to Indiana University-Columbus on Wednesday at Nischwitz Stadium in Fairborn.
