1 hurt in small plane crash near New Knoxville

A 74-year-old Minster woman was injured in a single airplane crash on Friday afternoon in Auglaize County, a news release from the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol reports.
The state highway patrol's preliminary investigation indicates that at around 1:30 p.m. Friday, Eugene A. Will, 75, of Minster, was piloting a 2005 Beechcraft A36 single propeller airplane, with Betty J. Will, 74, of Minster, as passenger.
The plane was flying from Auglaize County Neil Armstrong Airport in New Knoxville to Lewis University Airport in Romeoville, Illinois, when it experienced engine failure and the pilot performed an emergency landing in an agricultural field in the area of Southland Road west of State Route 29 in Auglaize County.
Betty Will was injured and transported to Joint Township District Memorial Hospital by St. Marys EMS. Eugene Will was not injured.
Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation by the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The New Knoxville Police Department, New Knoxville Fire Department, Auglaize County Sheriff's Office, Auglaize County EMA, Auglaize County CERT and St. Marys EMS also responded to the scene.
