Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents and husband, a son: Dennis Heyne, great grandsons: Justus Heyne and Isaiah Heyne, brother: Gene Homan, and step-mother: Vera (Schwartz) Homan.
Evelyn and David were happily married for 38 years, and traveled many places together. They enjoyed many years out West before coming home to the Midwest to be closer to family. Both Evelyn and David were members of the Catholic Church.
For most of her life, Evelyn was a homemaker and Mom, and many 'adopted' her as their honorary Mom. She was also a foster Mom to many children over the years as well, too many to count.
During her working career, she managed many different restaurants, and also became a nutrition counselor.
Evelyn loved to cook. When growing up, she was assigned cooking duties. Evelyn was always trying new recipes or making her own, and whatever she made was always incredibly delicious. If surprised by a visit from friends or family, she was immediately in the kitchen 'throwing something together' for her guests.
While living at Briarwood, many of the workers and other residents and their relatives would stop by Evelyn's room to visit or talk things over and listen to her bits of advice and wisdom. She loved on all of them, and so appreciated everyone who came to see her. Evelyn's visitors would most always get an "I love you" as they left.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, May 5, at Immaculate Conception Church in Celina. Calling Hours are at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday, May 4, and prior to the service on Monday, from 9:30 to 10:15 AM.
