Dorothy Boeckman
Dorothy Luella (Broering) Boeckman, age 98, formerly of Eastview Drive, Fort Loramie, passed away peacefully of natural causes Tuesday evening, May 27, 2025, at the Landings in Sidney, Ohio, where she had been a resident for three and one-half years.
She was born March 5, 1927, in St. Sebastian, Ohio, to the late John & Cecelia (Holdheide) Broering. On November 20, 1952, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Fort Loramie, Dorothy married Othmar Boeckman who preceded her in death on December 24, 1998.
Surviving are three children: Gary & Rose Boeckman of Daytona Beach, FL, John & Eileen Boeckman or Fort Loramie and Theresa & David Wood of Tucson, AZ; nine grandchildren: Lauren & Michael Sutton, Katie Boeckman, Bradon & Jenna Boeckman, Nicholas & Jenna Boeckman, Craig & Brittany Boeckman, Cole & Abby Boeckman, Isaac Wood & fiancé Maggie Gaffney, Erin Wood, Eli Wood & Lily Eckert as well as ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one infant son, Nicholas Boeckman and eleven siblings: infant Elmer Broering, Ambrose & Helen Broering, Marie & Paul Seger, Leander & Ruth Broering, Linus Broering, Hilda & Charles Steinke, Mildred & Morris Artkamp, Rita & Norbert Hoehne, infant Vernon Broering, Vernice "Mickey" & Stanley Mescher and infant William Broering.
Dorothy was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She took great pride in her home and over the years created many wonderful memories there entertaining family and friends. She was an avid card player and belonged to several card clubs. She volunteered for many local organizations including St Ann's Ladies Sodality and the Apostleship of Prayer. She also spent many years visiting and sitting with people at local nursing homes. She had the gift of gab and was a great story teller. Like her father, she always loved to tell a good joke before she left a party. She was a lifelong member and supporter of St Michael Catholic Church. She will be greatly missed by us all.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at St. Michael Church in Fort Loramie with Rev. John W. Tonkin presiding (services live-streamed at nflregion.org). Interment will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery.
Family and friends may call Monday, 4:00 to 7:00 PM and Tuesday 9:00 to 10:00 AM Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.
