Lester Flore
Lester Lee Flore, 87, of rural Celina, passed away on October 20, 2025, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys. He was born January 30, 1938, in Celina, OH, to Russish & Eddythe (Webb) Flore. On October 26, 1968, he married Sharalene (Secrest) Flore, who preceded him in death November 3, 2017.
He is survived by his children: James (Tracy) Flore and Jonathan (Janella) Flore, both of Celina, and Jessica Miller (James) Hull of London, OH, sisters-in-law: Patricia Flore of Delphos, and Connie Gates, Carol Zizelman, Lois Secrest, Louise Toler, and Shirley Brandon, all of Celina, grandchildren: Rose (Andrew Eads) Flore of Corning, OH, Nathan Flore of Celina, Lance (Emily) Miller of London, OH, and Sarah and Austin Flore of Celina, great grandchildren: Lucia & Arlo Miller of London, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and brother-in-law: Helen and Dale Parker, brother and sister-in-law: Robert and Dorothy Flore, brother, Ray Flore, in-laws: Lloyd & Luella Secrest, and brothers-in-law: Paul Gates, Don Zizelman, Dan Toler, Dale Secrest and David Secrest.
After graduating from Celina Senior High School, Lester worked at Mersman Furniture for a short time, then spent his career and retired from Reynolds & Reynolds, where he was a press operator. Lester was caretaker for Center Township cemeteries for many decades.
He was a member of Mt. Zion Church of Celina, and the Mercer County Sportsmen's Assn. In his younger years, Lester spent many hours training and competing with his race dogs, and hunting with his brother Ray and his family. The family would camp and attend the Tri-State Gas and Engine Show in Portland, IN, as well.
Lester enjoyed attending auctions with his wife, gardening, doing yard work, and spending time with family. He was always interested in a slice of hickory nut cake or a piece of pie.
Calling Hours are at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 23, and 11:00 a.m. until Noon on Friday, October 24. Services will follow at the Funeral Home at Noon, with Pastor Darwin Dunten, officiating.
Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Center Township, Mercer County.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Grand Lake Hospice.
