OPSMA All-Northwest District Football Honors

Area players earn district honors

St. Henry's Charlie Werling (12) was named the Division VII co-Offensive Player of the Year in the Northwest District.

Area football players earned postseason accolades as the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association released its All-Northwest District honors list on Thursday evening.

In Division VII, The Midwest Athletic Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year received the district top honors.

St. Henry quarterback Charlie Werling shared the district Offensive Player of the Year award with fellow quarterbacks Andon Clouse of Mohawk and Leipsic's Marc Kirkendall.

Marion Local defensive back Brayden Mescher was named co-Defensive Player of the Year with Columbus Grove's Brady Basinger and Lima Central Catholic's Caden Falke.

Marion Local's Derek Grieshop (66) was named the Division VII co-Lineman of the Year in the Northwest District.

Flyer offensive guard Derek Grieshop shared the district's Lineman of the Year award with Monroeville's Brycen Dunlap and Antwerp's Keegan Gray-Wyckoff.

Fort Recovery first-year coach Wes Wenning shared the district's Coach of the Year award after guiding the Indians to a 7-6 season, the program's first winning season since 2017 and a trip to the regional semifinals. North Baltimore's Greg Bishop and Leipsic's Joe Kirkendall shared the coaching honors.

Joining Werling, Mescher and Grieshop on the first team were Marion Local's Cale Nagel (receiver), Jacob Muhlenkamp (defensive line) and Thomas Winner (punter); St. Henry's Brayden Heath (tight end), Jake Schwieterman (offensive line), Owen Zimmerman (defensive line), Anderson Kramer (linebacker) and Jack Huelsman (defensive backs).

Local players earning second team honors in Division VII were New Bremen's Gavin Quellhorst (receiver), Jacob Kelly (running back), Aidan Eastham (kicker) and Tommy McNaughton (defensive back); Marion Local's Brennen Hess (quarterback), Kamden Eifert (running back), Oliver Huelsman (defensive line), Seth Heitkamp (linebacker) and Nolan Eckstein (linebacker); St. Henry's Nick Lefeld (offensive line) and Drew Langenkamp (linebacker); Minster's Tyler Bergman (defensive back) and Noah Schwieterman (defensive back); Fort Recovery's Reece Wendel (running back) and Breaker Jutte (linebacker).

Local players earning honorable mention honors include Marion Local's Jalen Rose and Aaron Heitkamp; St. Henry's Henry Puthoff and Keith Siefring; Minster's Grady Hein and Dominick Meyer.

In Division VI, Coldwater had two first team honorees in linebacker Derek Dues and defensive back Nolan Mescher. Receivers Cadin Obringer and Caleb Schroer and kicker Bryce Couchot were named to the second team with Colin Westgerdes earning honorable mention honors. Parkway's Parker Lyons also earned honorable mention honors.

In Division III, St. Marys had four first team selections with lineman Xander Post, running back Caleb Schmidt, kicker Bradey Triplett and linebacker Taylor Compton.

Earning second team honors were Celina's Logan Billerman (offensive line) and Parker Bertke (running back) and St. Marys' Owen Ott (defensive line). St. Marys' Savion Murphy was an honorable mention honoree.

Wapakoneta quarterback Caleb Moyer shared Offensive Player of the Year honors in Division III with Lexington quarterback Joe Caudill and Toledo Central Catholic tight end Preston Fryzel. Linemen of the Year honors was shared by Wapakoneta's Braylon Walter and Defiance's Tyler Doeden-Kiessling while Wapak coach Travis Moyer shared Coach of the Year honors with Andrew Saris.

In Division IV, Elida's Parker Crim, who is committed to Illinois, shared Lineman of the Year honors with Napoleon's Lukas Gerken.

Defensive Player of the Year: LJ Glover (Toledo Whitmer).

Lineman of the Year: Reed Gerken (Perrysburg).

Coach of the Year: Justin Keller (Toledo Whitmer).

DIVISION II

Offensive Players of the Year: Ja'Niaus Hall (Lima Senior) and Nathen Berhard (Ashland).

Defensive Players of the Year: Gunner Lacey (Ashland), Jermaine Polk (Toledo St. Francis) and Marquez Williams (Fremont Ross).

Linemen of the Year: Brandon Briggs (Ashland) and Kole Myers (Fremont Ross).

Coach of the Year: Bill Lawrence (Lima Senior).

Offensive Players of the Year: Caleb Moyer (Wapakoneta), Joe Caudill (Lexington) and Preston Fryzel (Toledo Central Catholic).

Defensive Player of the Year: Victor Singleton (Toledo Central Catholic).

Linemen of the Year: Braylon Walter (Wapakoneta) and Tyler Doeden-Kiessling (Defiance).

Coaches of the Year: Andrew Saris (Lexington) and Travis Moyer (Wapakoneta).

DIVISION IV

Offensive Players of the Year: Brayden DeVito (Shelby) and Sam Schweinfurth (Sandusky Perkins).

Defensive Players of the Year: Sam Gwirtz (Shelby) and Zach Sallee (Galion).

Linemen of the Year: Parker Crim (Elida), Lukas Gerken (Napoleon).

Coaches of the Year: Rob Mahaney (Shelby), Tyler Swary (Napoleon) and Alex Shepherd (Bellevue).

Offensive Players of the Year: Seth Elchert (Liberty-Benton) and T. Garrison Kruse (Liberty Center).

Defensive Players of the Year: CJ Barbara (Liberty-Benton) and Thomas Mohler (Liberty Center).

Linemen of the Year: Will Granger (Liberty-Benton) and Hunter Spangler (Liberty Center).

Coaches of the Year: Bill Fisher (Genoa), Casey Mohler (Liberty Center) and Scott Garlock (Liberty-Benton).

DIVISION VI

Offensive Players of the Year: Braxton Leeth (Convoy Crestview) and William Zeedyk (Fairview).

Defensive Players of the Year: Payne DeGray (Colonel Crawford), Judah Keller (Castalia Margaretta) and Grant Smith (Patrick Henry).
