Sharon Harter
Sharon Sue (Kelch) Harter, age 83, of Sidney, Ohio, formerly of Versailles, Ohio, passed away peacefully of natural causes early Friday morning, November 28, 2025, at the OSU Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio, with her family by her side.
She was born March 23, 1942, in Yorkshire, Ohio, to the late Harold A. & Mary M. (Martin) Kelch. On March 9, 1963, she married Larry G. Harter at St. Paul Lutheran Church in North Star.
Together they built more than sixty years of memories raising children, taking trips big and small, and creating a home rooted in love. Larry preceded her in death earlier this year, on January 27, 2025.
Sharon is survived by her children Suttan & Ron Barhorst of Fort Loramie, Traci & Scott Kruchan of Lyndhurst and Tia and Todd Kellner of Bexley. She was the proud grandmother of Jordan & Chelsey Barhorst, Jae Barhorst, Tessa Kruchan & Jacob Liston, Colin Kruchan and the great-grandmother of Sawyer Jade Barhorst and Leo Gene Barhorst.
She is also survived by one brother, Steven & Connie Kelch of Tucson, Arizona, and her in-laws, Ronald & Sherry Harter of Troy.
A 1960 graduate of Versailles High School, Sharon went on to study IBM Operating at Miami Jacobs College in Dayton. She then worked for the Celina Mutual Insurance Company before dedicating herself fully to her family. She was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and was known for her steady presence, quiet humor, and the way she made every gathering feel warm and familiar.
Sharon found joy in flower gardening, reading, solving puzzles, traveling, and especially hosting her grandchildren at Walt Disney World. But the moments that mattered most to her were closer to home, sitting in bleachers, auditoriums, or small cafeteria chairs at her grandchildren's school and sporting events. She never missed a concert, a game, or a milestone, cheering them on with the same unwavering loyalty she brought to the Cleveland Browns.
On Sundays, that loyalty often came with her yelling at the television, celebrating big plays and groaning through the tough ones, fully invested from kickoff to the final whistle. Sharon's gentle spirit, deep devotion to her family, and the many traditions she knitted into their lives will be forever cherished. Her absence leaves a space that can only be filled with the love and laughter she so generously gave.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM, Saturday, January 3, 2026, at St. Paul Lutheran Church of North Star with Vicar Mary Miller presiding. Inurnment of Sharon and Larry's cremains will follow at Brock Cemetery.
Family and friends may call from 12:30 to 1:30 PM at the church.
Memorials may be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Building Fund.
