Cron Street house gutted by fire

No injuries were reported in the fire near the intersection of Brandon and Cron streets.

A Celina home was severely damaged by fire Monday night before Celina Fire Department crews managed to extinguish the blaze.

No injuries were reported, though two dogs were killed and a neighboring home also sustained unspecified damage.

According to a news release from the Celina Fire Department, the department responded to a reported structure fire in a single-story home at 623 Cron St. in Celina at 11:17 p.m.

Upon arrival, crews observed a working fire with heavy smoke and fire venting from the front of the residence, along with a vehicle on fire in the driveway, the release stated.

Crews initiated an aggressive interior attack and successfully extinguished the fire, but the home and a vehicle sustained "heavy damage," according to the report.

Damage was also sustained by a neighbor's vehicle and home.

Two dogs died in the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and the State Fire Marshal has been contacted to assist with the investigation. The release stated that no foul play is suspected.

Approximately 15 firefighters from Celina responded to the blaze. The Celina Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Celina Police Department and the Celina Electric Department.
