Leroy Goodwin
Leroy Goodwin, 84, of St. Marys Twp. in Auglaize Co., OH died 10:35 a.m. Wednesday February 4, 2026 at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, OH.
He was born August 23, 1941 in St. Marys, OH to Leo George and Bertha H. (Schroelucke) Goodwin. On December 6, 1963 in Portland, IN he married Janice L. Walker, who died May 13, 2018.
Survivors include son Terry (Annette) Goodwin of St. Marys, OH; daughter Tammy (Todd) Bruns of Moulton, OH; son Travis Goodwin of Wapakoneta, OH; 2 grandchildren: Elyssa Boise and Jared (Haley) Goodwin; 3 great-grandchildren: Blake Boise, Charles Boise, Madeline Goodwin brother Lester "Gene" (Cheryl) Goodwin of Springboro, OH; and sister-in-law Linda Goodwin-McMurray of St. Marys, OH.
Preceded in death by parents Leo George and Bertha Goodwin; wife Janice Goodwin; brother Leonard (Dorothy); sister Dorla (Paul) Rempe; brother Leo "Fritz" (Nancy) Goodwin; sister Linda "Susie" (Paul) Walker; and brother Jerry Goodwin.
He was a graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School (Class of 1961) and played sports all three seasons. His first full-time job was at the Weston Paper Mill in St. Marys. Leroy retired from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (Division of Water), where he served as Superintendent of the Miami-Erie Canal.
He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #767, St. Marys Kiwanis Club (past-president), Miami-Erie Canal Corridor Association, Aktion Club ((advisor and treasurer) and the Delphos, OH Canal Boat and Museum Society. His favorite pastimes included playing softball, fishing, bowling, basketball and making large quantities of firewood. He was a diehard fan of St. Marys Roughriders football, The Ohio State Buckeyes, New York Yankees and Cincinnati Bengals.
Rites are scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. Monday February 9, 2026 at the Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West) in St. Marys. Burial will follow at the Resthaven Memory gardens near Moulton, OH.
Visitation 2 - 6 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. All attendees at the visitation and funeral are encouraged to dress casually.
