Mildred Donovan
Mildred Jane Donovan, age 90, of Saint Marys, went to be with the Lord, Friday, February 20, 2026. She passed peacefully surrounded by the love of her family at Elmwood of New Bremen.
Born July 23, 1935, in Van Wert County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Peter A. and Grace F.(Elsea) Miller. On May 14, 1953, she married her soulmate Robert L. Donovan who preceded her in death on May 30, 2003. Together they celebrated 50 years of marriage, love and memories.
Mildred is survived by her children Peggy (Don) Kruse of Saint Marys; Dennis (Cheryl) Donovan of Saint Marys and Robert A. Donovan of Saint Marys. She is also survived by her grandchildren Bryan P. Kruse of Celina; Christopher (Kristi) Donovan of St Marys; and Laura (Jacob) Baird of Sevierville, Tennessee.
Survived by her great-grandsons Wyatt Donovan of St Marys; and Colton Baird of Sevierville, Tennessee. Survived by her step grandson Chad (Angie) Flint of Covington, Ohio; and survived by her step-granddaughters Jada Flint and Sydney Flint of Covington, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter A.and Grace F. Miller, her husband,Robert L. Donovan, her daughter and caregiver, Debra D. Sudman; and by her siblings: James Miller, Paul Miller; Carl D. Miller and Daniel R. Miller.
Mildred was a graduate of Mendon-Union High School, class of 1953, where she was salutatorian of her senior class. Mildred was a hard worker and helped her husband Robert farm, and in their early years, helped operate Donovan's Auto Wrecking. Later in life she went to work for Walmart in Celina and retired after 25 years of service.
Mildred loved family gatherings for special occasions and holidays, loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and caring for her cats. Mildred enjoyed attending church services at Elmwood, especially when Pastor Joel Bucklin was preaching. She would follow along with the hymns and listening to the beautiful music always made her happy and smile.
The family would like to thank the staff at Elmwood "Memory Care" in New Bremen, and Grand Lake Hospice for all the love and kindness shown to our beloved Mother, Mildred, especially over the last few weeks of her life. Our Mom had a way of making each of us feel special and important in her life and we feel she was a treasure in ours. She will be forever loved and we will deeply miss her.
Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 27, 2026, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, the Reverend Joel Bucklin, officiant. Burial will follow at Mendon Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-7 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home, where memorial gifts may be given to Sue's Animal Rescue Team (SART) of Saint Marys.
