Delphos St. John's Cameron Elwer was named the MAC Boys Basketball Player of the Year for the third straight season.

For the third straight season, there was no question who is the top boys basketball player in the Midwest Athletic Conference.

Delphos St. John's senior Cameron Elwer was the unanimous choice by the conference coaches for Player of the Year for the third straight season, the first three-time honoree for the conference.

Elwer, who will play next season at NCAA Division I Furman, was the runner-up in the voting for Mr. Basketball last season and is a favorite to win the award this season after guiding the Blue Jays to a third straight MAC title and a 22-0 record heading into the postseason this week.

The stats tell the tale for the 6-1 guard. Elwer averaged 26.7 minutes per game this season and averaged 29.4 points per game. Elwer shot 64.4% from the field (215-of-334), 59.1% from the 3-point line (107-of-181) and 92.4% from the foul line (109-of-118). In addition to his scoring, Elwer led the Blue Jays in rebounding with 6.4 boards per game and in assists with 4.7 per game to go with 1.9 steals per game.

Elwer became the MAC's all-time leading scorer this season and finished the regular season with a school-record 53 points in a win over Parkway.

St. John's coach Aaron Elwer, Cameron's father, was selected as the Coach of the Year for the third straight season in guiding the Blue Jays to a third straight conference title. The Elwer family was well-represented on the All-MAC honors list. Cameron's brother Andrew was also a first-team honoree and cousin Easton was a second team selection.
