Clarence Leugers
Clarence V. "Chuck" Leugers, age 81, of Versailles, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at The Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville, Ohio.
Chuck was born near Berne, Indiana to the late Frank and Christina (Guggenbiller) Leugers.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Robert Leugers, Ruth Ann Behr, twin brother, Michael (Marion) Leugers, Janet Coblentz and Carolyn Leugers.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn Sue (McIntyre) whom he married on June 10, 1972; his children, Molly Jo Leugers of Villa Ridge, MO and Wesley Patrick (Brooke) Leugers of Willow Creek MT; grandchildren, Machara Jo and Hunter; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Chuck graduated from Brunnerdale Seminary in North Canton, Ohio. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Dayton and a master's degree in educational administration from Ball State University.
Chuck was an avid hunter with both bow and gun. When he was younger he and his father raised blue tick coon hounds and beagles. He enjoyed hunting rabbits and deer. Chuck taught school for 40 years, mostly at Versailles High School but also at St. Henry and Sidney Lehman. Throughout his career he taught many students, English, Government, History, Latin and Religion. He will be remembered in the classroom for his many "corny" jokes.
He was an Annual Advisor and established the dark room at Versailles High School. Chuck got his CDL and in the summers it wasn't uncommon to find him behind the wheel of a dump truck or school bus taking teams to events. He also supplemented his income in the summers working with John Huttle painting school projects, homes and other businesses including the Pepcon Towers.
Chuck enjoyed camping and bicycling. He worked with his children with their horse 4 H projects.
In leu of flowers, contributions may be made in Chuck's memory to the Versailles Community Scholarship Fund PayPal or addressed to Brian Griesdorn; PO Box 8, Versailles, Ohio 45380 or drop off at Greenville National Bank, Versailles, Ohio.
