Junior golfers compete in summer tour stop in Celina

The Lima Junior Golf Association's summer tour rolled into Mercer County for the annual stop at Celina Lynx Golf Club with the Hot Head Burritos Open.

St. Marys senior-to-be Hayden Roby had a strong day on the course, shooting a 4-under 68 to win the 16-18 year-old division and pick up 10 points towards the Golfer of the Year winner based on points earned during the summer.

Roby started on the front nine and made the turn shooting a 1-under 35. The back nine was stellar, hitting three birdies and not recording a bogey. A birdie on 18 gave him a 3-under 33 coming in to close out the day.

Kenton's Oliver Sneary was the only other golfer to break par in shooting a 2-under 70 for second. Minster's Max Voisard, who won last Tuesday at Colonial, tied Ottawa-Glandorf's Tyler Heckman for third with matching even-par 72s.

St. Marys' Gaige Newbauer tied for eighth with Botkins' Will Dietz with matching 78s. St. Henry's Michael Rindler was 12th with an 80.

Minster's Hayden Linn shot an 85 with St. Henry's Jonah Dilbone and St. Marys' Chace Luedeke each shooting an 87. St. Henry's Cooper LaGuire shot an 88. St. Marys' Caleb Rohrbach and Kyle Ibrahim shot 90 and 91, respectively.

In the 16-18 girls division, Botkins' Marian Nagel shot a 1-over 73 to take the win by 10 strokes over Houston's Delaney White and Coldwater's Alyssa Froning, who both shot matching 83s. St. Henry's Nora Moeller shot an 88 to take fourth with New Bremen's Vivian Trejo shooting 96 to place sixth. New Knoxville's Marin Schroer shot a 97, Minster's Grace Meyer carded a 98, St. Henry's Sophie Gerlach carded a 102 and New Bremen's Brylin Smith finished with a 135.

Delphos' Carter Roessner won the boys 14-15 group with a 76, two strokes ahead of Lima's Conner Clum. Coldwater's Louis Reichert shot an 87 to tie for 10th with Parkway incoming freshman Ryder Knapke. Celina's Leo Rolfes shot a 92 with St. Marys' Hudson Roby carding a 95 and St. Henry's Blake Garrison shooting a 96. Celina's Owen Harner finished with a 115 with Parkway's Carter Thompson shooting a 132.

Columbus Grove's Kyla Fortman shot a 45 to win the nine-hole 15-under girls division by one stroke over New Bremen's Ellie Meiring. Celina's Brynn Lehman finished with a 73.

The boys 12-13 division was won by Lima's Bryson Brooks with a 38. St. Marys' Scooby Bubp tied for sixth with a 45. New Knoxville's Dylan Walls shot a 51 with St. Marys' Dylan Walls carding a 52. New Knoxville's Evan Wierwille and Brycen Wierwille shot 59 and 60, respectively.
