Dyne Hoenie
Dyne Robert Hoenie, age 81, of Celina, passed away May 27, 2026, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.
He was born February 2, 1945, in Celina, to Robert G. & Mary Ann (Braun) Hoenie. Dyne's parents and brother, Curtis Hoenie, preceded him in death.
Dyne is survived by his step-daughter Heather (Peter) Maurer of St. Louis, Missouri; granddaughters Lucy, Emily and Charlotte Maurer; sister-in-law Jane Hoenie of Coldwater, Michigan; and niece Erica Pullins (Hoenie).
Dyne was a graduate of Lima Central Catholic High School, and The University of Dayton, where he earned a Bachelor's of Business Administration in Accounting. He worked for National Cash Register as an accountant after graduation, and was quickly promoted to Accounting Manager, then worked at NCR's corporate offices. In a later job with Fairchild Camera & Instrument Corp, he was an International Controller, traveling extensively across Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
Dyne had a lifelong love of engineering and a knack for finding better ways to solve a problem. That drive eventually led him to self-employment, where he developed technology imaging solutions to support security systems and in-line quality evaluation for manufacturing. He held several patents for these systems and continued this work until his passing.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Celina. Dyne's hobbies and interests include boating, building computer systems, spending time with his family near and far, his 1961 Corvette, and spending time outdoors.
A Memorial Mass is being held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 24, at Immaculate Conception Church in Celina, with Fr. Rob Muhlenkamp, presiding. Interment of Dyne's ashes will follow at North Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, or a charity of your choice, in Dyne's name.
