Minster schools is ready to talk space

  MINSTER - Minster Local Schools Board of Education members buttoned up their long-awaited land swap with the village this week, setting the stage for possible district expansion in the future.
Minster school board members at Monday's regular meeting approved an exchange agreement between the Village of Minster and board of education for the transfer of 7.3 acres of village property to Minster Local Schools, and 11.446 acres of school-owned land adjacent to Four Seasons Park to the village. ROCKFORD - The momentum swings in Tuesday night's New Bremen-Parkway volleyball match could have required some medication to stay steady.
Parkway dominated the first set, only for New Bremen to battle back to take the next two sets. The Panthers battled and forced a fifth set, where they were able to get the final two points to hang on for the 25-14, 23-25, 19-25, 25-19, 15-13 win over the Cardinals in a Midwest Athletic Conference battle at Panther Gymnasium in Rockford. Combined Services spotlights impact of nonprofits
CELINA - The Celina-Mercer County Combined Services Appeal annual fundraising drive is now in full swing, garnering donations for 18 local nonprofit organizations that provide important services to an array of county residents.
Mercer included in flood emergency
McARTHUR - Gov. Mike DeWine Tuesday declared a state of emergency in 19 Ohio counties impacted by recent severe weather, including Mercer and Van Wert counties.
August unemployment numbers little changed
COLUMBUS - Ohio's unemployment rate fell slightly in August to 3.3% from 3.4% in July, while unemployment in Mercer and Auglaize counties experienced little to no change.
Enrollment up at the Lake Campus
Wright State University's overall enrollment jumped this fall to 12,157 students at the university's Dayton and Lake campuses combined, a 2% increase from fall 2025 and a 12% increase since 2022, according to a fall update from the school.
Two indicted on drug charges in Mercer court
CELINA - Two men were indicted on drug possession charges last week in Mercer County Common Pleas Court.
Raul D. Valle-Rodriguez, 26, was indicted Thursday on one count of possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony.
Seven injured in U.S. Route 30 two-vehicle crash
RIDGE TOWNSHIP - The Ohio State Highway Patrol's Van Wert Post responded to a two-vehicle crash with serious injuries that occurred Tuesday at approximately 12:08 a.m. on U.S. Route 30 in Van Wert County.
