Merlin Ahlers
 Merlin L. Ahlers, 82, 303 S. Walnut St., New Bremen, died at 9 p.m. April 28, 2003, at his residence.
 He was born Oct. 14, 1920, to Louis and Adeline Heinfeld Ahlers. On Aug. 27, 1955, he married Mary Ellen Archer who survives.
 Also surviving are a son, Kenneth of St. Marys; a daughter, Patricia (Greg) Allenby, Worthington; and two grandchildren.
 He retired from Stamco Corp., New Bremen, in 1982. He served in the U.S. Armyís 787th Military Police Unit during World War II, including a three-year stint in England and France. He served 12 years as president of the Woodman Lodge Camp 149, New Bremen, and was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, New Bremen.
 He was a longtime committee member with the Woodman Festival and the Bremenfest, heading the bingo stands for many years.
 Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, the Rev. John W. Tostrick officiating. Burial will be at German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.
 Calling is 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mildred Boyer
 Mildred M. Boyer, 87, formerly of 545A Franklin St., Versailles, died at 3:45 p.m. April 28, 2003, at the Versailles Health Care Center.
 She was born Jan. 18, 1916, in Darke County, to Henry A. and Laria A. Bertram Tegtmeyer. Her husband, Kenneth M. Boyer, died June 9, 1991.
 Surviving are a son, Rex (Virginia) of Montezuma; three daughters, Judy (Ben) Hardy and Linda Wappelhorst, both of Greenville and Rox Ann Jenkins, New Paris; a sister, Ruth Anderson, Greenville; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, nine stepgreat-grandchildren and a stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
 Deceased are a son-in-law, Tom Wappelhorst; three brothers, Bernard, Delbert and Harold Tegtmeyer; two sisters, Luella Gilmore and Lucille Walls; and two grandsons.
 She had been a telephone operator in North Star for 17 years and later worked at Georgeís General Store for more than 20 years. She also was a substitute employee at the North Star Post Office. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, North Star, the Ansonia Senior Citizens Club and the Greenville Senior Citizens Club.
 Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, the Rev. Laura Shreffler officiating. Burial will follow at Stelvideo Cemetery.
 Calling is 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Elmer Brandon
 Elmer Brandon, 87, of Celina, died at 7:45 a.m. April 28, 2003, at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
 He was born Aug. 7, 1915, to J. Van and Mary S. Cook Brandon. On July 15, 1939, he married Esther L. Eichenauer who died Sept. 17, 1989.
 Surviving are two daughters, Linda (Gene) Miller, Van Wert, and Rita (Dave) Suhr, Celina; a brother-in-law, H. Stanley (Shomey) Eichenauer, Dayton; two sisters-in-law, Sally Eichenauer, Celina, and Carolyn Brandon, no town listed; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
 Two brothers, Olen and Dale, are deceased.
 He retired from New Idea in Coldwater on May 1, 1981. He was a member of Beaver Chapel Congregational Christian Church and the Durbin Bean Bake Committee.
 Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Verl Baumer officiating. Burial will be at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.
 Calling is 3-8 p.m. Friday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, and after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Adolph Rodriguez
 Adolph Garza Rodriguez, 64, of New Bremen, formerly of Rockford, died at 7:55 a.m. April 29, 2003,  at his residence. Death was due to natural causes.
 He was born Nov. 26, 1938, in San Antonio, Texas, to Adolph and Maria Guadlupe Rodriguez. On Dec. 8, 1984, he married Mary Anna Holdshoe who survives.
 Also surviving are two sons, Christopher (Kathleen) of Akron, and Ryan of San Diego, Calif.; a daughter, Pamela (Robert) Cochran, Kalamazoo, Mich.; three stepsons, James Emmins, New Bremen, William Emmins, Coldwater, and Paul Emmins, Lima; and one grandson.
 Other survivors include two brothers, Jesse (Connie) of New Bremen and Benito (Esther) of Florida; and five sisters, Mary (Greg) Bennett, Celina, Helen (Jay) Litherland, Florida, Margaret (Robert) McNoughton, Georgia, Bebe (Robert) Hicks, Wisconsin, Beda (Robert) Sielschott, Lima, and Judy (Brad) Mann, Michigan.
 He was a maintenance supervisor at Master Maintenance. A Vietnam War veteran, he served in both the U.S. Army and Marine Corps.
 Graveside services are 1 p.m. Thursday at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford, the Rev. Robert Cochran officiating. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5713 of Celina will conduct military rites.

Rhonda Vanhoose
 Rhonda Vanhoose, 52, Walnut Street, New Weston, died at 10 a.m. April 29, 2003, at her residence. Death was due to natural causes.
 She was born May 17, 1950, to Roy and Frances Griffin Vanhoose.
 Surviving are a brother, Ralph, and a sister, Rebecca Fletcher, both of New Weston.
 A sister, Ella Mae, died in infancy.
 She was a homemaker.
 Graveside services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Holsapple Cemetery, New Weston.

Loretta Winscott
 Loretta Wilhemena Winscott, 87, of Rockford, died at 12:30 a.m. April 29, 2003, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
 She was born Dec. 20, 1915, in Dearborn County, Ind., to Roy and Alta M. Gugel Glardon. On Dec. 14, 1935, she married Willard Winscott who died June 16, 1979.
 Surviving are three daughters, Judith (Brian) Mahon, Bradenton, Fla., Mary (John) Garrett, Columbus, and Marcia of Rockford; a sister, Rosella (Luther) Welch, Bloomfield, Ind.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
 She was a homemaker and a member of Rockford United Methodist Church.
 Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford, the Rev. Michael Berne officiating.
 Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, has charge of arrangements.

Mary  Bohls
 Mary E. Bohls, 62, of Celina, formerly of Dayton, died April 26, 2003, at her residence. Death was due to natural causes.
 She was born March 5, 1941, in Cincinnati.  Her husband, Harold Pauley, is deceased.
 Surviving are two sisters, Elizabeth Weckesser and Rosemary (Albert) Schulze.
 Two brothers and two sisters are deceased.
 She retired from the Dayton Mental Health Center after 25 years of service. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Celina.
 Funeral Mass is 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church, Miamisburg. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Dayton.
 Calling is 5-9 p.m. Wednesday at Meyer-Boehmer & Feucht Funeral Home, Dayton. A prayer service will be held there at 8:45 a.m. Thursday.

Phyllis Campbell
 Phyllis M. Campbell, 67, 7001 Cottonwood Beach Road, Celina, died at 9:35 p.m. April 27, 2003, at The Gardens at St. Henry.
 She was born April 30, 1935, in Dayton, to Charles E. and Inez Gephart Shell. Her husband, Stanley Jo Campbell, died April 17, 1995.
 Surviving are three daughters, Vicki (Tom) Bach, West Milton, Teresa (Bob) McGuinness, Clayton, and Sheri Black, Indianapolis, Ind.; four stepchildren, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and seven stepgrandchildren.
 She retired as a nurseís aide from Mercer Residential Services Inc. She was a member of Polk Grove United Church of Christ.
 Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, the Rev. Jim Grushon officiating. Burial will be at Miami Memorial Park Cemetery, Covington.

Brennon Miller
 Brennon Tayler Miller, 2 days, 1412 James Drive, Celina, died April 25, 2003, at Childrenís Medical Center, Dayton.
 Born in Coldwater, he was the son of Josh Parker and Bethany Miller.
 Surviving along with the parents are grandparents, Tammy and Lawrence Parker, Celina, Victor and Becky Miller, Fort Recovery, and Rose and Thomas Drexler, Celina.
 Graveside services are 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Marys Cemetery, Celina, the Rev. Tim Bartee officiating.

Laura Oakman
 Laura J. Oakman, 89, of Wapakoneta, formerly of Vero Beach, Fla., died April 26, 2003, at her residence.
 She was born Oct. 20, 1913, in  Winchester, Ind., to Cledia and Hazel C. Fraze Hufford. On May 30, 1930, she married Chester W. Oakman who died Feb. 26, 1992.
 Surviving are two sons, Jack L. of Wapakoneta and Oliver Gary (Marietta) of Celina; a son-in-law, Marion Knief, Vero Beach; two brothers, William Kenneth Hufford and Richard Hufford, both of Union City, Ind.; 16 grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
 Deceased are a son, Harold Gene; a daughter, Marlene Knief; two daughters-in-law, Edith and Gloria Jean Oakman; and a grandchild.
 She was a homemaker and a former member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary Aerie 691, Wapakoneta.
 Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, Wapakoneta, the Rev. James R. Sager officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens near Moulton.

Mary Reynolds
 Mary Reynolds, 82, a resident of Americare Nursing Home, Portland, Ind., formerly of Fort Recovery, died at 12:50 p.m. April 27, 2003, at Jay County Hospital, Portland, Ind.
 She was born Jan. 14, 1921, in Jackson, Ky., to James and Cindy Johnson Gross. On July 16, 1938, she married Lewis Reynolds who died July 25, 1999.
 Surviving are three sons, Woody and Jesse, both of Fort Recovery, and John (Cheryl) of Chattanooga; five daughters, Lorene (Calvin) Huss, Geneva, Ind., Dorothy (John) Watkins, Arlene (Everett Jr.) Moore and Judy, all of Fort Recovery, and Mary (Paul) Burry, Berne, Ind.; 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
 Other survivors include three brothers, Elisha (Jalia) Gross, Weldon (Haney) Gross and James H. (Dorothy) Gross, all of Jackson; and two sisters, Nerva (Herman) Barrett, Booneville, Ky., and Ida Neace, Jackson.
 Deceased are a son, Nolan; a brother, Herman Gross; a sister, Lorean Brigner; and a grandchild.
 She was a member of the Church of the Living God, Union City, Ind.
 Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Dan Hill officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Union City, Ind.

Rosella Schaefer
 Rosella A. Schaefer, 90, Karafit Road, Celina, died at 7:50 p.m. April 26, 2003, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
 She was born March 28, 1913, in Minster, to Herman and Rose Koverman Oldiges. Her husband, Wallace Schaefer, died Oct. 9, 1949.
 Surviving are a son, John (Opal) of St. Marys; three daughters, Rosanne (Carl) Meyer, Celina, Louise Jones, Michigan, and Carolyn (Gordon) Wolfe, Montezuma; a brother, Louie (Irma) Oldiges, Minster; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
 Deceased are a son-in-law, Bud Jones; seven brothers, Elmer, Matt, Andrew, Carl, Edward, Herman and Richard Oldiges; a sister, Marie Doenges; and a grandchild.
 She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Montezuma, and the Veterans of Foreign War Auxiliary, Celina.
 Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Carl Wise officiating. Burial will follow at German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.

Norman Schoch
 Norman W. Schoch, 77, 408 N. Cedar St., Coldwater, died at 6 a.m. April 25, 2003, at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
 He was born March 15, 1926, in Coldwater, to Arnold and Frances Wallischeck Schoch. On June 18, 1960, he married Julie Comer Schoch, who survives.
 Other survivors include a son, Norman Jr., of Dayton; a daughter, Claire (Tim) Buschur, of Coldwater; two sisters, Marian (Jim) Scheuerman, of Celina, and Jean (Don) Magarian, of Milwaukee, Wis; and two sisters-in-law, Ann Schoch-Harker, of Dayton and Dorothy of Troy.
 Deceased are two brothers, Howard and Michael.
 He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. Later he was commander of Coldwater American Legion Post 470, served on the Coldwater Fire Department for 26 years and was a member of Coldwater Village Council. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and its Menís Holy Name Society. He also worked at the former Schoch Paint Store in Coldwater.
 Services at the church are at 10:30 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. Thomas Mannebach officiating. Burial will follow at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.
 Calling is 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater.

Marinus Ruschau
 Marinus W. Ruschau, 91, 312 Park Blvd., Versailles, died at 1:50 a.m., April 24, 2003, at Versailles Health Care Center.
 He was born Nov. 23, 1911, in Cassella, to Bernard and Catherine Buehler Ruschau. On Oct. 28,1939, he married Irene Heitkamp, who died Nov. 30, 2002.
 Survivors include two sons, Robert (Joan) of Versailles, and Allen (Carol) of Tipp City; three daughters, Carolyn (Joe) Steiger, Zanesville, Cindy (Richard) Sowell, Lambertville, Mich., and Donna Phillips, Rochester, N.Y.; two brothers, Wilfred (Luella) of Dayton, and Jim (Pauline) of St. Marys; a sister, Mary Catherine Riethman, Minster; two sisters-in-law, Helen of Dayton and Viona of Tipp City; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
 Deceased are five brothers, Urban, Richard, Eugene, Paul and the Rev. Ambrose Ruschau.
 He worked at Frigidaire in Dayton for 10 years, owned a grocery store in Yorkshire for 11 years and was an independent insurance agent for 20 years.
 He was a member of Yorkshire Village Council for 25 years and a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church and its choir. He was also a member of the Catholic Order of Forresters for 50 years. He retired in 1979 and moved to Versailles, where he was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Knights of St. John and Rotary Club, where he was a Paul Harris Fellow recipient. He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles and was founder of the Versailles Senior Citizen Center.
 Services at St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles, are at 10:30 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. David Vincent officiating. Burial will follow at St. Valbert Cemetery, Versailles.
 Calling is  2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Bailey Zechar Funeral home, Versailles.
 Donations can be made to the Versailles Life Squad.

Joseph Thomas
 Joseph E. Thomas, 65, 808 Pro Drive, Apt. 16, Celina, died April 25, 2003, at Wapakoneta Manor Nursing Home.
 He was born on July 4, 1937, in Washington Courthouse, to Cy C. and Gladys Collins Thomas. His parents and step mother, Geraldine Martin, are deceased.
 He is survived by a son, Jeremy Thomas, Sacramento, Calif.; four sisters, Marge Chaney, Choteau, Mont., Mary Byrum, St. Petersburg, Fla., Mabel Thomas, Celina, and Virginia Drinnen, Wapakoneta; a brother, James, of Mercer; two step brothers, Robert Bullock, Lima, and Donald Bullock, Celina.
 He is preceded in death by a brother, John, and two sisters, Peg Chaney and Geraldine McMurray.
 He was a horse trainer.
 A private family memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Celina, with the Rev. M. Stephen Merold officiating.

Dewey Alt
 Mercer County native Dewey L. Alt, 77, of Decatur, Ind., died April 23, 2003, in Decatur following an apparent heart attack.
 He was born Aug. 11, 1925, in Mercer County, to Charles and Laura Bollenbacher Alt. On April 10, 1970, he married Agnes L. Kolter who survives.
 Also surviving are a son, Michael L. (Mary)  of Decatur; a daughter, Myra D. Simonson, Decatur; two sisters, Alice Shinn and Virginia (Gene) Rolfes, both of Celina; and three grandchildren.
 Deceased are three brothers, Leroy, Robert and Arthur, and two sisters, Esther Hone and Wilma Butcher.
 He was employed at Yost Companies/Prestress for 31 years as production manager. Following retirement, he worked part-time at Prestress. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Magley, Ind., and Decatur American Legion Post 43. He also was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of Moose 1311, Decatur, the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, both of Celina.
 Services are 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Revs. Jean Carmean and Raymond Scribner officiating. Military graveside rites will follow at the church cemetery.
 Calling is 2-5 p.m. Sunday and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, and after 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Gene Arters
 Gene Arters, 71, 342 S. Main St., Mendon, died at 9:48 p.m. April 23, 2003, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
 He was born June 6, 1931, in Lima, to Homer and Thelma Now Arters. On Feb. 11, 1967, he married Pearl Richards who died Sept. 30, 1999.
 Surviving are two sons, Jason of Mendon and Gene Jr. (Sharon) of Norwich, Conn.; two daughters, Iris of Mendon and Cynthia of Celina; a brother, Craig (Dian) of Union; and four grandchildren.
 He retired from New Idea in Coldwater and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
 Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Rick Brosher officiating. Burial will follow at Mercer Memory Gardens.

Naomi Forlow
 Rockford native Naomi Faye Forlow, 91, of Van Wert, died at 5 a.m. today, April 25, 2003, at The Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
 She was born Jan. 16, 1912, in Rockford, to Charles E. and Pearl Baird Hawk.
 Surviving are two sisters, Louise Sielschott and Kathleen Snook Hays, both of Celina.
 Seven brothers, Reid, Rex, William, Paul, Gordon, A.J. and Carl, are deceased.
 She retired from Continental Can after 33 years of service.
 Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.

Luella Poor

 She was born Oct. 30, 1913, in Berne, Ind., to Frederick Cleveland and Nora L. Gilliland Siler. On June 23. 1934, she married Walter H. Poor who is now deceased.
 Surviving are a son, Jay (Susan) of Botkins; a daughter, Patty (Ed) Krogman, Mendon; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
 A brother, Orval Siler, is deceased.
 She was a homemaker and a member of Montezuma United Methodist Church.

Virgil Turner
 Virgil Roy Turner, 83, 214 N. Ash St., Celina, died at 8 p.m. April 24, 2003, at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
 He was born July 25, 1919, in Mercer County. His first wife, the former Kathleen Hazel Price, is deceased. On Dec. 16, 1989, he married Ruth Ida Hamilton Houts who survives.
 Also surviving are a son, Robert N. (Sharon) of Alamogordo, N.M.; a brother, Walter Turner, Florida; and a grandson.
 A daughter, Lucy J., is deceased.
 He was an engineer at Martin-Marietta in California and Middletown. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a 1937 graduate of Mendon-Union High School, he was a member of Celina First Church of God.
 Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at the church, the Revs. Richard VanHorn and Bruce Strine officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. Monday at Deerfield Cemetery, Malta.

Russell Bricker
 Russell E. ìGeneî Bricker, 79, 8761 Kuck Road, Celina, died at 10:30 p.m. April 22, 2003, at Lifecare Hospital, Miamisburg.
 He was born Sept. 6, 1923, in North Findlay, to Ross R. and Lucy Baucher Bricker. On Aug. 8, 1947, he married Ruth Bauders who survives.
 Also surviving are two sons, Richard A. (Beth) of Celina and James E. (Connie) of Oxford; a sister, Marjorie of Mendon; and four grandchildren.
 Deceased are a daughter-in-law, Sylvia Bricker; an infant sister, Ruth Paulins; and a granddaughter.
 He retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St. Marys, in 1980 after 39 years of service. A World War II veteran, he served with the Army Engineers in Company B, 831st Engineer AVN Batalion. He was a member and trustee of Hamilton-Bethel United Methodist Church.
 Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Paul Bunnell officiating. Burial will be at Mendon Cemetery.

 Jesse C. Moore, 89, 564 Livingston St., Celina, formerly of Fort Recovery, died at 2:20 a.m. April 23, 2003, at The Gardens at Celina.
 He was born Aug. 14, 1913, in Potsdam, to Jesse Irving and Mattie D. Spade Moore. On Oct. 7, 1945, he married Margaret Hunley who died June 14, 1968. On Feb. 20, 1971, he married Pauline Ingle Kugel who died Sep. 7, 1978.
 Surviving are two sons, Stanley Craig (Linda) of Fletcher, N.C., and Joseph Howard of San Francisco, Calif.; a daughter, Mary Hope Funkhouser, Pawleys Island, S.C.; two brothers, Ray H. and Gerald H., town not listed; a sister, Pauline Alexander, town not listed; four grandchildren and a great-grandson.
 Deceased are four brothers, Robert K., Dale, Cecil and Leonard, and three sisters, Ruth Reynolds, Doris Wright and Betty Ummel.
 He was a tool and die maker and an inventor who held more than 20 U.S. patents. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and did short-term missionary work for Wycliffe Bible Translators in Waxhaw, N.C. A graduate of Troy High School, he attended Olivet Nazarene College, Kankakee, Ill. He attended Calvary Evangelical Church, Van Wert, and was associated with Fort Recovery United Methodist Church.
 Graveside services are planned at a later date at Spring Hill Cemetery, Fort Recovery, the Rev. W. Clark Williman officiating.

 Luella Mae (Siler) Poor, 89, of Celina, died early today, April 24, 2003, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.

Ruth Prichard
 Ruth P. Prichard, 86, 220 N. Main St., Mendon, died at 10:10 p.m. April 22, 2003, at The Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
 She was born May 29, 1916, in Van Wert County, to Clement F. and Mary Crowe Brown. On Jan. 1, 1941, she married Edwin F. Prichard who died May 7, 2000.
 Surviving are two daughters, Mary Ann (Rodney) Dudgeon, Venedocia, and Sharon (Joseph) Snayd, Dallas, Texas; and two grandchildren.
 Deceased are two brothers, James L. and Ralph, and three sisters, Dorothy L. Gamble, Lorita L. Lynch and Lucille Brown.
 She was a homemaker and a graduate of York High School. She was a member of Mendon United Methodist Church and the Celina Order of Eastern Star, formerly of Mendon. She was involved with the Friends of the Mendon Library, serving as treasurer, a member of the Van Wert YWCA Board and adviser for York Duchess 4-H Club in Van Wert County.
 Graveside services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Mendon Cemetery, the Rev. Paul Bunnell officiating.

Emma Thomas
 Former Celina resident Emma Thomas, 79, of Alabaster, Ala., died April 11, 2003, at a hospital in Alabaster.
 She was born March 27, 1924, in Darke County, to Shirl and Florence Krick McCabe. Her first husband, Marvin Gabbert, was killed in action in Germany during World War II. She later married John Thomas who died June 11, 1991.
 Surviving are a son, Craig (Marcy) of Montevallo, Ala.; five sisters, Dorothy OíBrien, Celina, Josephine Gabbard, Avon Lake, Sharron Michael, Barstow, Calif., Karron Hoskins, New Madison, and Becky French, Indianapolis, Ind.; two grandsons and a great-granddaughter.
 Memorial services were April 16 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville. Burial was April 18 at Oak Grove Cemetery, Fort Jefferson.

 Coldwater native Mary B. Ashman, 90, 207 Pittsburg Ave., Portland, Ind., died April 22, 2003, at Americare Living Center, Portland.
 She was born April 28, 1912, in Coldwater, to Edward and Maude Martin Smith. On June 13, 1931, she married David Ashman who died March 15, 1991.
 Surviving are three sons, David of Fort Wayne, Ind., Dale and Carl, both of Portland; a daughter, Wanda (Tom) Violett, Alexandria, Va.; two brothers, Gene Smith, Ada, and Roger Smith, Celina; a sister, Hildred Betz, Fort Recovery; 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
 A daughter, Lois Osborne, and a grandson are deceased.
 She retired from Jay Garment and was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, both of Portland.
 Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home, Portland, the Rev. Fred Grenier officiating. Burial will be at Macedon Cemetery.

Helen Brandt
 Former Kettlersville resident Helen C. Brandt, 95, of Greenwich, Conn., died April 3, 2003, at Hill House in Greenwich.
 She was born June 7, 1907, in Wauseon, to Ralph and Mary Clark. On July 9, 1938, she married Karl W. Brandt who died Aug. 14, 1979.
 Surviving are two grandchildren, Carleson and Brooks, both of Greenwich.
 A son, William, is deceased.
 She had worked for the U.S. Department of Interior before moving to Kettlersville, where she and her husband operated a dairy farm. She also worked as a legal secretary in Sidney. She was a graduate of Wauseon High School, where she had been a member of the League of Business Women and the Girls Club. She attended Miami University, Oxford, where she was a member of Beta Phi Alpha sorority.
 She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Kettlersville, where she was past president of Church Women United. She also was a volunteer coupon collector at Auglaize School in New Bremen.
 Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. James Melter officiating. Burial will follow at Shelby Memory Gardens near Sidney.
 Calling is 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of services at the church.

Jack Danaher
 Jack V. Danaher, 80, 133 N. Augustus St., St. Marys, died April 21, 2003, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
 He was born Aug. 4, 1922, in Wichita, Kan., to Hugh and Sarah Axe Danaher. On April 9, 1947, he married Patricia Ann Ike who survives.
 Also surviving are a son, David of Sevierville, Tenn.; and two granddaughters.
 A sister, Mary, is deceased.
 He was a corporate attorney for Ryder Systems in Miami, Fla., for many years prior to moving to St. Marys in 1985. He was a 1951 graduate of Ohio State University Law School. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys, the St. Marys Outing Association (Idlewild) and the Ohio Bar Association.

Virginia Kyle
 Virginia E. Missler Kyle, 78, of Van Wert, died at 2:11 a.m. April 22, 2003, at Van Wert County Hospital.
 She was born Dec. 17, 1924, in Van Wert County, to Virgil and Helen Roop Gamble. On April 8, 1944, she married Paul Missler who died Sept. 28, 1987. On April 15, 1989, she married Edwin Kyle who died May 11, 1992.
 Surviving are two sons, Kent Missler, Ohio City, and David Missler, Convoy; two daughters, Linda K. Missler, Lima, and Kathleen (Richard) Kesler, Van Wert; two brothers, Robert (Carol) Gamble, Ohio City, and Max (Linda) Gamble, Van Wert; and one grandchild.
 She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Friends Church and the STIC Group of the church, all of Van Wert, and the Van Wert County Farm Bureau.

Rose Lammers
 Rose Alma Lammers, 83, 243 S. Hanover St., Minster, died at 9:50 a.m. April 22, 2003, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
 She was born Nov. 22, 1919, in St. Henry, to John and Gertrude Streacker Fullenkamp. On Nov. 24, 1938, she married Wilbur B. Lammers who died Dec. 21, 1991.
 Surviving are two sons, Robert (Dorothy) of Minster, and John (Cynthia) of Poway, Calif.; a daughter, Anne (Larry) Larger, Minster; a brother, Louis (Zita) Fullenkamp, St. Henry; two sisters, Mary (Ed) Fieley, Centerville, and Mildred (Gerald) VanderHorst, St. Marys; two sisters-in-law, Irene and Ruby Fullenkamp, both of St. Henry; eight grandsons and 10 great-grandchildren.
 Four brothers, a sister and a great-grandchild are deceased.
 She was a homemaker and a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and its Mission Commission, both of Minster. She also was a member of the Minster and Fort Loramie historical societies.

 Adolph ìOttî Lauterbur, 94, formerly of 15370 County Road 66A, St. Marys, died April 22, 2003, at Auglaize Acres Nursing Home, Wapakoneta, where he had resided since 2000.
 He was born Sept. 13, 1908, in Shelby County, to Peter and Theresa Schott Lauterbur. On Jan. 12, 1937, he married Thekla Danzig who died May 19, 1984.
 Surviving are a nephew, Alvin Wiest, Botkins, and two nieces, Marjorie Young, Centerville, and Marilyn (Gifford) Solem, Miamisburg.
 Deceased are a brother, Dr. Max Wiest; a sister, Mary Ahlers; four nephews and a niece.
 He was a farmer and a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 767, both of St. Marys, and the Shelby County Deer Hunters, Sidney. He had attended the former Uno School near St. Patrick.

Calvin Scott Sr.
 Calvin L. Scott Sr., 77, 1325 Michael Ave., Celina, died at 10:30 p.m. April 21, 2003, at his residence.
 He was born March 24, 1926, in Celina, to Ross and Mabel Norris Scott. On March 3, 1984, he married Joyce Rose who survives.
 Also surviving are a son, Calvin (Ruth) of Celina; a daughter, Polly (Paul) Ziegler, Celina; a stepdaughter, Yvonne (Michael) Wamsley, Columbus; two sisters, Alwilda Thobe and Bonnie Stevenson, both of Fort Recovery; and six grandchildren.
 A brother, Robert, is deceased.
 He retired from Tilton Corp., Lima, in October 1991. He had worked for Lake Contracting and was a former deputy sheriff. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was stationed on Iwo Jima.
 He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, American Legion Post 210 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, all of Celina.

 James A. Thomas, 30, of Mendon, died April 21, 2003, at SCCI Hospital, part of St. Ritaís Medical Center, Lima. Death was due to cancer.

 She was born Nov. 2, 1911, near New Bremen, to Arthur W. and Hilda M. Westerbeck Moeller.

 She had been a clothing model in various cities throughout the United States. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, New Bremen.

Helen Stanford
 Celina native Helen Miller Stanford, 85, of Washington, D.C., died April 5, 2003, at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington of non-Hodgkinís lymphoma.
 In 1940, she married George Stanford who died in 1981.
 Surviving are three sons, Phil of Portland, Ore., James of Washington, D.C., and Ron of Philadelphia, Pa.; two sisters, Barbara Banks, San Diego, Calif., and Janet of Arlington, Va.; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
 She co-founded the preschool at University United Methodist Church, College Park, Md., and taught there from 1969 to 1977. In the late 1960s, she taught parenting skills to adults with children in the Head Start program in Prince Georgeís County, Md. She graduated from Miami University, Oxford, in 1938 with a home economics degree and in 1940 from Iowa State University with a masterís degree in early childhood and family relationships. She taught preschool in Iowa, Ohio and Alabama before moving to Washington in the mid-1960s.
 She also did volunteer coordination work for the bicentennial celebration at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival. Her hooked rugs were exhibited at the National 4-H Center.

 He was born June 26, 1936, in Coldwater, to Theodore and Catherine Knoth Homan. On April 15, 1961, he married Rosalie Wilder who survives.
 Also surviving are two sons, Tony (Teresa) of Coldwater and Dale of Raleigh, N.C.; two daughters, Sharon (David) Ayers, Brownsburg, Ind., and Diane (Randy) Weitzel, Coldwater; two brothers, Dallas (Mary Lou) of Coldwater and Donald (Rosemary) of Burkettsville; a sister, Jeanette (Herman) Osterholt, Fort Wayne, Ind.; and six grandchildren.

 Henry Jansen, 83, 371 Western Ave., St. Henry, died at 2:20 p.m. April 20, 2003, at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater.
 He was born June 14, 1919, in St. Joe, to John and Margaret Schuh Jansen.
 Surviving are four brothers, Dennis (Lucy) of Coldwater, John (Pat) of Celina, Tom (Mary Jo) of Dayton and Paul (Judy) of St. Henry; three sisters, Clara Lauber, Dayton, Margaret Stammen, Coldwater, and Lucy (Bob) Link, Celina; and a sister-in-law, Betty Jansen, Florida.
 Deceased are four brothers, Clarence, Bill, Louis and Bob; two sisters, Isabelle Heinke and Mary Hemmelgarn; and four brothers-in-law, Paul Heinke, Oscar Hemmelgarn, Walter Stammen and Floyd Lauber.
 He had been self employed in the plastering business and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the St. Henry Catholic Church and the St. Henry American Legion.

 Former St. Anthony resident Julia A. Krieg, 79, died at 1:20 p.m. April 20, 2003, at the Gardens at Celina, where she resided. She was born June 1, 1923, in Fort Recovery, to William and Matilda Braun Fullenkamp. On May 10, 1947, she married Hilbert S. Krieg who died Aug. 24, 1990.
 Surviving are three sons, James (Janet) and Michael (Marty) of Coldwater and Gary (Ruth) of St. Anthony; two daughters, Teresa (Dave) Kleinhenz, Maria Stein, and Kathleen (Samuel) Mescher, Coldwater; two brothers, Wilbur (Jeanie) Fullenkamp, Redkey, Ind., and Eugene (Marilyn) Fullenkamp, Decatur, Ind.; a sister, Lucille (Lester) Moorman, Cape Coral, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Alice Fullenkamp, Decatur, and Irene Fullenkamp, Portland, Ind.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
 Deceased are two brothers, Ernest and Martin Fullenkamp, and two sisters, Salome Hartnagel and Madonna Bricker.

 She was born April 20, 1921, in Hoopston, Ill., to Herbert and Bessie Sales Millard. On Feb. 4, 1942, she married Clarence Gillis who died March 13, 1972.
 Surviving are a son, Pat (Sandy) of Celina; three daughters-in-law, Charlene Gillis, Coldwater, Kelli and Karen Gillis, both of Celina; 16 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
 Deceased are three sons, Ronald, Mike and Tom; two brothers and five sisters.
 A retired licensed practical nurse, she had worked at Gibbons Hospital and Otis Hospital in Celina. She also had worked as a private duty nurse in Celina. She was a member of St. Paulís United Methodist Church, Celina.

 Coldwater native Lorraine T. Kremer, 46, of Concord, N.H., died April 18, 2003, at Hospice House in Concord,  following an extended illness.
 She was born April 29, 1956, in Coldwater, to Raymond S. and Jeanene M. Vagedes Kremer. They survive in Coldwater.
 Surviving with her husband, John P. Giere of Concord, are seven brothers, Jeffrey (Lisa), Timothy (Susan), Jason, and Brian (Amy), all of Coldwater, Eric of Castelnau le Lez, France, Philip (Linda) and Brad (Marcia) of Tipp City, and four sisters, Cynthia of Celina, Gail (Brian) Quan, Denver, Colo., Janel (Brad) Still, Willow Spring, N.C., and Jodi of Coldwater.
 She was business supervisor for administrative services for the State of New Hampshire. She received an associate degree in accounting from Wright State University in 1977, as well as bachelorís and masterís degrees in accounting in 1987 and 1989 from Truman State University, where she was named outstanding graduate accounting student
 Memorial service is 2 p.m. April 25 at the Church Street chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, Concord. Burial will take place this summer at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.

 She was born July 26, 1917, in Coldwater, to Roman and Clara Selhorst Hoyng. Her husband of 54 years, Morant A. Buschor, died in 1995.
 Surviving are a son, Michael R. of Dayton; and a sister, Wilma Buschur, Coldwater.
 She had worked in the accounting department at Rikes Department Store and later as supervisor at Burke Marketing and Research, a division of Procter & Gamble. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church and the Rosary Altar Society, both of Dayton.

Kenneth Fisher
 Kenneth E. Fisher, 83, of Kossuth, died April 16, 2003, at his residence.
 He was born April 24, 1919, in Van Wert County, to Emery and Lola Heist Fisher. On Sept. 15, 1945, he married Ada H. Tewell who survives.
 Also surviving are three sons, Nelson (Diana) and Norman (Martha), both of Wapakoneta, and Nolan (Christine) of St. Paris; three daughters, Phyllis (Edward) Goodson, Lima, Alexa Tippie, St. Marys, and Joyce Fisher, Spencerville; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
 A longtime farmer, he had worked as a welder at Gramm Trailer/Fruehauf Corp., Delphos, and retired from New Idea in Coldwater. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a graduate of York High School and a member of Kossuth-Zion United Methodist Church.
 Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Raymond S. Daniel Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Cemetery near Van Wert with military rites conducted by Bowersock Brothers Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6772 and Harry J. Reynolds American Legion Post 191, both of Spencerville.

 Marie B. Groff, 87, 257 E. Star Road, North Star, died suddenly April 15, 2003, at her residence.
 She was born Dec. 8, 1915, in St. Sebastian, to John and Anna Schwegman Knapke. On April 16, 1947, she married Francis J. Groff who survives.
 Also surviving are a son, Tim (Cheryl) of Dayton; a daughter, Theresa of Kettering; a sister, Viola (Richard) Groff, Kettering; and three grandchildren.
 Deceased are three brothers, Raymond, Norbert and Albert, and four sisters, Alvina Mestemaker, Erma Bergman, Leona Heuing and Marcella Duweling.
 A homemaker and the former owner of Groff Groceries in North Star, she also baked wedding cakes for many years. She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, the St. Annís Sodality of the parish and the American Legion Auxiliary, all of North Star, and the Knights of St. John Auxiliary, Maria Stein.

George Lybarger
 George B. Lybarger, 48, of Spencerville, died at 7:05 a.m. April 16, 2003, at St. Ritaís Medical Center, Lima, following a sudden illness at his residence.
 He was born Dec. 30, 1954, in Lima, to Roger O. and Grace Marie Alspaugh Dorsten Lybarger. A stepfather, Bill Wilkerson, survives in Spencerville. On April 20, 1974, he married Sandra Lee Parsons who survives.
 Also surviving are a son, Roger, and a daughter, Melissa Lynn, all of Spencerville; and two brothers, Wilson J. (Treda) Dorsten, Spencerville, and Eugene S. (Diana) Wilkerson, Ada.
 A brother, William Lee Wilkerson, is deceased.
 He was employed as a custodian at Spencerville Elementary School and previously worked at the Fruehauf Corp. in Delphos for 12 years and the Re-Lom Division of Flexible Foam Products in Spencerville for four years. He attended Spencerville Schools and served in the U.S. Army from 1972 to 1975. He was a member of Bethlehem Christian Union Church in Buckland, where he served as a trustee and a member of the official board and pastoral committee. He was a member of Harry J. Reynolds American Legion Post 191, Spencerville, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 691, Wapakoneta. Active in Cub Scouts, he formerly served as Cubmaster for Spencerville Pack 2.
 Services are 11 a.m. Monday at the church, the Revs. Carl W. Miller and Timothy R. Bruns officiating. Burial will follow at Buckland Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 191 and Bowersock Brothers Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6772, both of Spencerville.

 Surviving are three sons, Kevin Joe (Dawn) of Huntington, Ind., Stephen Douglas (Victoria) of Manapequa, N.Y., and Gregory Eugene (Carmen) of Wellington, Fla.; a daughter, Paula Jean (Joe) Ybarra, Van Wert; two brothers, Robert (Kay) Schmidt and Billie Joe (Janet) Schmidt, both of Van Wert; two sisters, Eva Lou (William) Burd and Joyce (Ted) Gates, both of Celina; a sister-in-law, Luella (Bill) Good, Van Wert; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

 She was born July 10, 1949, in Wheeling, W. Va., to Francis I. and Theresa Pomorski McMahon. They survive in Wheeling. On July 15, 1967, she married John E. Casto who survives.

Rev. Bernard Meiring
 The Rev. Bernard Meiring, C.PP.S., 73, a Mercer County native, died at 11:10 p.m. April 12, 2003, at the St. Charles Center infirmary, Carthagena.
 He was born Aug. 8, 1929, in Sharpsburg, to Bernard and Julia Fiely Meiring.
 Surviving are three brothers, the Rev. Arnold of St. Charles Center, Joseph of Fort Recovery, and Daniel of Centerville; four sisters, Verena (Thomas) Humenny, Sacramento, Calif., Lillian (Bernard) Wahrer, Dayton, and Ruth (Wilbert) Gerlach and Esther Hoffpauir, both of Fort Recovery; and a sister-in-law, Peg Meiring, La Habra, Calif.
 A brother, William, and a brother-in-law, John Hoffpauir, are deceased.
 He entered the Society of the Precious Blood in 1943 at Brunnerdale Seminary, Canton, and was ordained to the priesthood June 11, 1955. He completed a masterís degree in education before being assigned to St. Josephís College, Rensselaer, Ind., and received a doctorate degree in education from the University of California at Berkeley in 1963. He returned to the Rensselaer college later that year, serving as assistant professor and then professor of education, head of the education department, director of student teachers and vice president for academic affairs. He also helped the college receive its first accreditation from the National Council of Accreditation for Teacher Education and establish an elementary education program.
 He was elected to the Missionaries of the Precious Blood Senate in 1970 and earned a degree in accounting and a certified public accountant designation in 1982. He taught accounting at St. Josephís College and Calumet College of St. Joseph in Whiting, Ind., before becoming a professor and board member at Calumet in 1993. In 1994, he became pastor at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Mercer County. In 1998, he became senior associate pastor at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, a position he held until moving to the Carthagena center in January.
 Funeral Mass is 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Charles Center, the Rev. Angelo Anthony officiating and the Rev. Thomas Hemm preaching. Burial will follow at the community cemetery.
 Calling is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at St. Charles Center. A vigil service will be held there at 7 p.m.

 She was born July 15, 1941, in St. Marys, to Francis and Audrey Ferris Sanford. On Feb. 8, 1964, she married Thomas E. Rockwood who died in 1990.
 Surviving are a son, Edward of Louisburg, N.C.; a daughter, Barbara Booth, Spring Hope; three brothers, Riley, Sam and Leonard Sanford, all of St. Marys; two sisters, Nita Jump, Fremont, and Bella Grubbs, St. Marys; and five grandchildren.

 Deceased are four brothers, Harvey and Harry Kilger and two others who died in infancy; and four sisters, Bessie Thomas, Maude Hertenstein, Pearl Burkhart and Edna Kilger.
 A homemaker, she had worked at the former Crane & McMahon Co. and Marsh Supermarket in St. Marys. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 323, both of St. Marys. She also was a member of the St. Marys Saddle Club, serving as treasurer for 30 years.
 Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Joy Miller officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens near St. Marys.

William Vannett
 William N. ìBillî Vannett, 57, 602 S. Wayne St., Van Wert, died at 11:44 p.m. April 10, 2003, at Van Wert County Hospital. Death was due to natural causes.
 He was born Jan. 24, 1946, in Celina, to William Franklin and Lorena Katherine Zumbrink Vannett. His mother survives in Coldwater. On April 13, 1969, he married Pamela Jean Thomas who survives.
 Also surviving are two sons, Brian Neal, of Rockford and Brad Alan, of Van Wert; two sisters, Sharon Thomas, Coldwater, and Jane (Ronnie) Norton, Celina; and two grandchildren.
 A sister, Carla Depweg, is deceased.
 He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1991 after more than 30 years and served in both the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Storm. He was a Coldwater High School graduate.
 Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Rev. Jim C. Burns officiating. Burial with military rites conducted by the U.S. Navy will be at Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.

 He was born Jan. 28, 1923, in Fort Recovery, to Samuel and Clara Guggenbiller Jutte. On Oct. 28, 1950, he married Esther Franzer who survives.
 Also surviving are two sons, Dale (Diane) of Coldwater and Fred (Ruth) of Fort Recovery; three daughters, Elaine (Dean) Winner, North Star, Barbara (James) Wilker, New Bremen, and Marilyn Kahlig, Coldwater; a son-in-law, Ken (Kate) Bruggeman, Fort Recovery; two brothers, Orville (Betty) of St. Wendelin and Linus, Celina; a sister, Lorene Voskuhl, St. Henry; 25 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
 Deceased are a daughter, Joyce Bruggeman; a son-in-law, Frank Kahlig; two brothers, Melvin and Jerome; and a sister, Leona Kunkler.
 A retired farmer, he was a member of the St. Peter Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society of the church.

 M. Margaret Lloyd, 84, formerly of Rockford, died at 4 a.m. today, April 11, 2003, at The  Sunrise of Englewood nursing home.
 She was born Oct. 4, 1918, in Van Wert County, to Floyd and Blanche Leona Kushmaul Crone. On Dec. 15, 1940, she married J. Richard Lloyd who died March 11, 1993.
 Surviving are a son, Kevin (Leslie) of Darien, Conn.; a daughter, Jonelle (Phil) Roberts, Clayton; a sister, Marcelle Kenner, Hicksville; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
 She was a member of Rockford Presbyterian Church and the Order of Eastern Star.

 He retired in 1983 as controller at Daniel Packaging, Hendersonville, N.C. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

 Former Fort Recovery resident James F. Schlemann, 79, 5316  53rd Ave., Lot J3, Bradenton, Fla., died April 7, 2003, at Blake Hospital in Bradenton.
 He was born Dec. 16, 1923, in Dayton, to Lawrence and Justina Sell Schlemann. On June 14, 1945, he married Marlyn Marsh who survives.
 Also surviving are a daughter, Sue Ann (Donald) Klosterman, Celina; a brother, Lawrence of Hamilton; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
 An infant daughter, Carol Ann, and a sister, Dolores Wadovsky, are deceased.
 He retired as a machinist at Teledyne Portland Forge, Portland, Ind. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Portland, and the Lions Club, Jaycees and American Legion, all of Bradenton. He also was a board member at Westwinds Village in Bradenton.

 Also surviving are a son, Craig (Darlene) of Celina; a sister, Mary (Clayton) Adams, Mendon; and three grandchildren.
 Deceased are a son, Mark, and three sisters, Winifred Darras, Virginia Muhlenkamp and Phyllis Blythe.
 He had been a clerk at the Celina Post Office for 28 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 210 and Lodge 241, Free & Accepted Masons, all of Celina, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6772, Spencerville.

 He was born Nov. 9, 1923, in Celina, to Oscar and Opal Fleenor Buck. On June 29, 1948, he married Ilene Klosterman and she survives.
 Also surviving are a son, Ronald (Cathy) of St. Marys; five daughters, Diane (Dale) Engel, Mary (Mike) Zwiebel, Karen (Greg) Muhl-enkamp and Connie (Denny) Lauth, all of St. Marys, and Joan of Marion, Ind.; two brothers, Billie and Lisle, both of Celina; three sisters, Alice Baucher, Ruth Byers and Janet Garwood, also of Celina; 12 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
 He retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St. Marys, after 37 years of service and also was a farmer. He was a 1942 graduate of Celina High School and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving as a corporal in the 104th Medical Battalion in Europe during World War II and earning several medals. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, American Legion Post 323 and the Disabled American Veterans, all of St. Marys.

 Surviving are five sons, Ron of Minster, Gerald and Thomas of Dayton, George of Sidney and Frank of Jackson Center; three daughters, Marlene (Earl) Siegrist, Coldwater, Jo (Richard) Bergman, New Bremen, and Theresa (Thomas) Zimpher, Anna; 27 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, seven stepgreat-grandchildren and one stepgreat-great-grandchild.
 Also surviving are a brother, Al Schlater, Fort Loramie; and three sisters, Juliann Frey, Fort Loramie, Freda Pleiman, Union City, and Emma Grilliot, Piqua.

 She was born Feb. 19, 1940, in Minster, to Clem and Marie Berning Feldman. On Feb. 27, 1960, she married Victor B. Rutschilling who survives.
 Also surviving are two sons, James (Bonnie) of Celina and Rick (Dana) of New Bremen; two daughters, Lona Jo (Kevin) Mescher, St. Henry, and Lisa (Pat) Rosenbeck, Maria Stein; a brother, Thomas (Carol) Feldman, Minster; two sisters, Joan (Bill) Earley, Minster, and Gail (Ted) Wendeln, Fort Loramie; and 14 grandchildren.
 She was preceded in death by one son, Gary.
 She was the former co-owner and operator of VJís Restaurant at Lake Loramie and the Osgood Inn. She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Osgood.

 She was born April 16, 1923, in Poe, Ind., to Adolph and Melinda Parker Puff. On Sept. 5, 1969, she married Naaman Gene Kittle who died in 1983.
 Surviving are a son, Robert (Karen) Bodle, Angola, Ind.; five daughters, Carolyn (John) James, Susan (Glen) Hemmelgarn and Delores (Steve) Moeller, all of Fort Wayne, Ind.; Deborah (Jim) Tinsley, Rockford; and Rebecca (Terry) Leonard, Celina; eight stepchildren, 22 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

 She retired in 1983 from Society Bank, now known as Community First Bank. A 1941 graduate of Immaculate Conception High School, she was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Altar Society, both of Celina, and the Mercer County Genealogy Society.

 Thomas A. Lampert, 78, 59 Rummel Creek Drive, New Bremen, died at 4:50 a.m. April 6, 2003, at his residence.
 He was born July 31, 1924, in Minster, to Bernard and Bernadine Berning Lampert. On June 7, 1947, he married Edna M. Quinter who survives.
 Also surviving are three sons, Bill (Nancy) of Raleigh, N.C., Charlie (Sharon) and Pat (Jamie), both of New Bremen; four daughters, Peg (Nick) Will, Worthington, Teresa (Larry) Wissman, Julie (Tom) Pfenning and Kay (Bernie) Larger, all of New Bremen; two brothers, Virgil of New Bremen and Eugene (Joanne) of St. Marys; two sisters, Marilyn (Guy) Dennings, Covington, and Audrey McCollum, New Bremen; 24 grandchildren and a great-grandson.
 Deceased are two brothers, Orville and Victor, and a granddaughter.
 He and his brother Gene operated Lampertís IGA in Piqua. He also was night supervisor at Minster Machine Co. prior to retiring after 35 years of service and raised cattle on his farm north of New Bremen.

 She was born June 2, 1913, in Sidney, to Mace E. and Anna Elizabeth Robbins Valentine. On July 22, 1933, she married Floyd A. Umstead who died Feb. 10, 1958.
 Surviving are two sons, Charles F. of Coldwater and Carleton of Anna; two brothers, Carl Valentine, Columbus, and Forest Valentine, St. Marys; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
 Deceased  are a son, a daughter, two brothers and a sister.
 A nurseís aide, she formerly owned and operated Anna Nursing Home.

 Verla Wilker, 55, 5820 Siegrist-Jutte Road, Celina, died April 5, 2003, at Community Hospital, Coldwater. Death was due to a gunshot wound. See story on page 5.
 She was born Oct. 6, 1947, in La Follette, Tenn., to Herman and Lavada Marsee Evans. Her mother survives in Sweetwater, Tenn. On Nov. 15, 1996, she married Marvin Wilker who survives.
 Also surviving are two sons, Kerry (Sherry) McMurray, Sweetwater, and Sean Wilker, Celina; two daughters, Kimberly (Richard) Reid, Baton Rouge, La., and Lisa McMurray, Madisonville, Tenn.; three stepsons, Marty and Matthew Wilker, both of Celina, and Dan (Joyce) Wilker, Fort Recovery; two stepdaughters, Angela (Chris) Green, New Knoxville, and Kathleen (Ben) Brown, Celina; 13 grandchildren and seven stepgrandchildren.
 Other survivors include six brothers, James (Mackalene) Evans, Philadelphia, Tenn., Bill (Wanda) Evans, Claude Evans, Joe Evans and Hank (Jan) Evans, all of Sweetwater, and Wayne (Barbara) Evans, Ten Mile, Tenn.; and two sisters, Joyce (Reuben) Hunt and Pat (Larry) Thomas, also of Sweetwater.
 A brother, Carlos, is deceased.
 She had worked as a seamstress in her home and was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Montezuma.

 She was born March 24, 1920, in Mercer County to Martin and Alice Hendricks Murphy. On Nov. 19, 1949, she married Andrew Homan who survives. In 1943, she married Willard Hartnagel, who died in 1948.
 Survivors are three daughters, Regina (Mike) Mote, Kettering, Clara (Jim) Davis, Dayton, and Karen (Ron) Sudhoff, Garrett, Ind.; five sons, Stanley (Carolyn) of Chickasaw, Paul (Marcia) of Coldwater, Steven (Rachel) of Mobile, Ala., Kevin (Diana) of Oakridge, Tenn., and Mark (Ruth) of Fort Recovery; three sisters, Mildred Minnich, Port Huron, Mich., Dorothy (Carl) Gromaux, Decatur, Ind., and Patricia (Ron) Tricarrico, Beavercreek; a son-in-law, Henry Forsthoff, St. Henry; and 31 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
 Deceased is a daughter, Marilyn Forsthoff.
 She was a member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Fort Recovery and its Altar Sodality. She is a former member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.

 He was born Jan. 23, 1922, in Auglaize County to Ralph and Grace Armstrong Koons.
 On Jan. 27, 1991, he married Pauline Poppe, who survives. He also was married to Carol Corrigan, who died in 1987.

 He was retired as a commissary manager at the Lima State Prison and was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II. He was a 1940 graduate of Memorial High School, St. Marys. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, the American Legion and Fraternal Order of Eagles, all of Celina.

 He was born Nov. 10, 1917 in Burktown, Va., to Edward and Anna Mary Kennedy Miller. On Dec. 24, 1968, he was married Annie Ruth Delap, who survives at Valley Nursing Home.
 Also surviving are three sons, Jim and (Barbara) of Grottoes, Va., Edwin (Jackie) of Weyers Cove, Va., and David of Wapakoneta; four daughters, Nellie (Jim) Riddel and Brenda (Alvin) Weaver, all of Weyers Cove, Dianne (John) Morris, Grottoes, and Gloria Hollandsworth, St. Marys; seven step-children John (Helen) Clark, Lima, Shelby Burden, Wapakoneta, Whitey (Eloise) Rupert, St. Marys, Joe Bailey, Elkhart, Ind., Steve Bailey, Union City, Tenn.; Stanley Bailey, Branson, Mo., and Patty Lockard, Sidney; three brothers, Gabriel (Clara) of Waynesboro, Va., Robert (Peggy) of Grottoes, and John (Catherine) of Winchester, Va.; two sisters, Lucille Pryor, Roanoke, Va., and Mary Albera, Newark, Del.; and 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
 He was preceded in death by two sons, Chuck and Joe, four sisters and one brother.
 He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1937 and helped construct the original Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was a founding member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9289, St. Marys, where he was a life member. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., St. Marys, and was a former truck driver.
 Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Bill Drummond officiating. Burial will be follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, St. Marys, where VFW Post 9289 will conduct graveside military ties.

 On June 29, 1946, he married Mary Elizabeth Frahm, who died Aug. 29, 1985.
 Surviving is a son, Paul (Sharon) of Mendon; a daughter, Miriam (Kraig) Johns, St. Marys; a brother, Harold W. (Annabelle) of Convoy; a sister, Doris Johnson, Decatur, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Delores of Albion, Ind.; and five grandchildren.

 A retired farmer, he was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Hopewell township, and former member of the Mendon-Union School board of education and was a Union Township Trustee.

 He was born June 3, 1977, in Piqua to Ann M. Adams and Terry Robertson. His mother survives in Greenville and his father in Tennessee. He is the step-son of Dick Lucas, Greenville.
 Surviving is a daughter, Cheyenne Fritz, Greenville; his fiancee, Wendy Fritz, Greenville; a brother, Timothy of Greenville; two step-brothers, Jeffrey and Phillip, both of Tennessee; a sister, Holli Grove, Pennsylvania; grandparents, Marion and Fern Adams, Covington; and step-grandparents, Gerald and Velma Lucas, Greenville.
 Deceased are his grandparents, Luther and Laura Mae Robertson.
 He was a police officer with the Versailles Police Department since January 1999. He was a 1995 graduate of Greenville High School and member of the Greenville FFA. He was a member of the Greenville American Legion, Covington Eagles Lodge, Greenville Masonic Lodge No. 143, Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton Eagle Scout Troop 145 and HOG Club.

 Surviving are two sons, Terry of Dover and Craig (Vicky) of St. Joseph, Mo.; three daughters, Carolyn of St. Marys, Allis (Tom) Real, Cortland, and Barbara (Larry) Shockling, Pittsburgh, Pa; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
 Deceased are two sisters, three brothers and a son-in-law, David Smith.
 She was a 1930 graduate of Jackson High School and was a licensed practical nurse, retiring from the former Otis Hospital in Celina after 40 years of service. She was a member of the former Mercer County History Club and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Celina.

 Surviving are a son, William E. of Columbus, and a brother, William W. (Jean E.) Brown, Fort Pierce, Fla.
 She was a former Mercer County recorder and a past national president of the Ohio State Alumnae. She was a homemaker and held a private pilotís license.

 He was a retired Baptist minister and painter. A 1951 Celina High School graduate, he served four years in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.

Terry Moots
 Terry Lee Moots, 66, 705 Stoneybrook Drive, St. Marys, died suddenly at 10:50 a.m. April 2, 2003, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
 He was born Aug. 23, 1936, in East Liberty, to Elza and Opal Seaman Moots. On Sept. 13, 1958, he married Dixie Westbay and she survives.
 Also surviving are two sons, DeWaine (Pam) of New Bremen and Tim (Annette) of Wapakoneta; a daughter, Teresa (Patrick) Schemmel, McCartyville; two sisters, Nancy (Tom) Fortman and Sandy (Emmett) Shoup, both of St. Marys; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Moots, Cridersville; and seven grandchildren.

 He was born July 17, 1996, in Coldwater, to Jason A. and Amber Kimmey Miller. His father and stepmother, Crystal, survive in Montezuma and his mother survives in Fort Wayne, Ind.
 Also surviving are a brother, Christian, and four sisters, Sadie, Samatha, Cloey and Destiny, all at home; grandparents, Fred Miller Sr., Celina, Jane Combs, Lima, Joseph and Mary Martin and Deb Bayless, all of Delphos, and Steve Kimmey, Bryan; and great-grandmother, Rose Meinerding, St. Marys.
 He was a first-grade student at Franklin Elementary School, Montezuma.

Corrine Reineke
 Corrine L. Reineke, 69, 1427 Van Buren St. #46, Fostoria, died at 12:30 p.m. March 31, 2003, at The Independence House in Fostoria.
 She was born June 16, 1933, in Toledo, to Alexander and Anna Dick Barchick. On Jan. 31, 1953, she married William F. Reineke Sr. who survives.
 Also surviving are four sons, William F. Jr. and Daniel E. (Nikki), both of Tiffin, Thomas A. (Stacey) of Fostoria, and John A. (Vannessa) of Brighton, Mich.; six daughters,  Jacqueline (Kerry) Mitchell, Celina, Elizabeth A. Jadwisiak, Port Clinton, Nancy J. (Robert) Nusser and Cynthia L. (Joseph) Taylor, both of Fostoria, Susan P. (Anthony) Casale, Tiffin, and Kathryn L. (John) Schneider, Middle Bass; a brother, Richard M. Barchick, Toledo; a twin sister, Kathleen A. (Melvin) Sulewski, Toledo; and 23 grandchildren.
 A grandson is deceased.
 She was a homemaker and a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, where she was a member of the choir and the liturgical arts committee. She also was a member of the Antique Study Club, Fostoria Country Club and the Catawba Island Club and a former leader and adviser for the Fostoria Camp Fire Girls Association. She was a 1951 graduate of Central Catholic High School.
 Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Mark Bowers officiating. A rosery will be prayed at 10 a.m. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
 Calling is 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria. A wake service will be held there at 8:45 p.m.
 Contributions can be made to the William F. and Corrine Reineke Scholarship Fund or the Greater Fostoria Community Foundation.

Richard Yauman
 Richard L. Yauman, 60, of Lima, died at 8:24 a.m. March 29, 2003, at St. Ritaís Medical Center, Lima. Death was due to natural causes.
 He was born June 4, 1942, in Youngstown, to Ralph and E. Gene Bauer Yauman. On Nov. 10, 2001, he married Margarita Garcia Rendon who survives.
 Also surviving are two sons, Richard Jr. and Gregory, both of New Springfield; and three sisters, Bonny Rupert, Poland, Gerry (Tony) Pirone, Columbiana, and Wendy of Boardman.
 He was employed as an engineer at Setex Inc., St. Marys. He received a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Youngstown State University and was affiliated with Mensa. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
 Services are 8 p.m. today at Chiles & Sons-Laman Shawnee Chapel, Lima, the Revs. Arthur Wilde and George Blasick officiating. Veterans of Foreign Wars post 1275 will conduct military rites following the service. A second service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Seederly, Mong and Beck Funeral Home, North Lima, the Rev. John Selders officiating. Burial will be at Greenhaven Cemetery, Canfield.
 Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the Lima funeral home and 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the North Lima funeral home.
