Daniel Lee Beckstedt,
51, 1509 Westbury Drive, Celina, died at 1:20 p.m. Dec. 29, 2003, at Joint Township
District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys. Death was due to natural causes.
He was born March 18,
1952, in Celina, to Ralph and Marge Klopfleisch Beckstedt. They survive in Celina.
On June 29, 1974, he married Luanne Louise Barber who survives.
Also surviving are
two sons, Ryan (Jodi) of Sommerset and Eric of Lewis Center; a brother, Gary
(Kim) of Celina; a sister, Becky (Dennis) Rolfes, Celina; and his mother-in-law,
Henrietta Barber, St. Marys.
Deceased are a sister,
Peggy, and his father-in-law, Harry Barber.
He was employed as
a press operator at Pax Machine, Celina. A 1970 graduate of Celina High School,
he was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Sons of American Legion Post 210
and the Loyal Order of Moose 1473, all of Celina.
Services are 10 a.m.
Friday at the church, the Rev. Douglas Meyer officiating. Burial will be at
North Grove Cemetery.

76, 532 E. Wayne St., Celina, died Dec. 30, 2003, at Mercer County Community
Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born
Jan. 7, 1927, in Rockford, to Grant Sr. and Lena Snyder Cook. On June 17,
1950, he married Betty Wehrkamp who survives.
Also surviving
are two sons, Douglas (Alice) and Steve (Sue), and a daughter, Sharon Reineke,
all of Celina; five brothers, Carl (Dorothy) and Bob (Cinda), all of Celina,
Don (Sharon) of Columbus, Ben (Kathy) of Napoleon, and Clark (Mary Alice)
of Sidney; four sisters, Katie Crider and Elizabeth Frushour, both of Bowling
Green, Sally (Jack) Conley, Dayton, and Becky (Dan) Dunbauld, Zionsville,
Ind.; and four grandchildren.
A son, Denny,
is deceased.
He retired
as Celina postmaster and served eight years as Jefferson Township clerk.
A 1944 graduate of Celina High School, he served in the U.S. Navy during
World War II. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church
and a life member of Knights of Columbus Council 1800, Veterans of Foreign
Wars Post 5713 and American Legion Post 210, all of Celina. He also was
past president of the Ohio Postmasters Association and a member of the
Ohio Clerks Association, Ohio Township Association, the National Association
of Postmasters and the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.
Services are
10 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Richard Riedel officiating. Burial
will follow at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.

He was born
Sept. 10, 1954, in Celina, to Jerry and Ruth Pearson Loughridge. They survive
in Celina.

are a brother, Patrick (Beth) of Norwalk, and a sister, Jeannie (Ron) Smalley,
Celina.
He worked
in tool engineering at NextiraOne and formerly worked at Goodyear Tire
& Rubber Co., St. Marys, and Ford Motor Co., Lima. A 1972 graduate
of Celina High School, he attended Wright State University for two years
and was a member of St. Paulís United Methodist Church, Celina.

Evelyn M. McCain, 87, of Sun City, Ariz., formerly of Lima and Cridersville,
died at 4:40 a.m. Dec. 29, 2003, at Sun Health Hospice, Peoria, Ariz.
She was born
March 24, 1916, in Mendon, to Charles and Clara Sowers Snyder. On Nov.
21, 1936, she married Lloyd A. McCain who died Sept. 12, 1991.
Surviving
are a son, Charles A. of Sun City; a daughter, Ann (David) Yoakam, Cridersville;
a half brother, Dean Snyder, Celina; two half sisters, Floy Whetstone,
St. Marys, and Kathryn Harner, Mendon; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased are
a sister, Marie Bennett, and a half brother, Carl E. Snyder.
She was a
homemaker and the co-owner of McCain Industries, a recreational vehicle
manufacturer.

daughters, Patricia Kiefer, Sandy Bechtol and Nancy Overman, all of St.
Marys, and Sharon (Donald) White, Spokane, Wash.; two brothers, LeRoy of
Fort Loramie, and Eugene (Mary Ann) of Minster; three sisters, Irene Lallemand,
Dayton, Evelyn Eiting, Minster, and Joann (Walter) Vondenhuevel, New Bremen;
17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

a son-in-law, Robert Kiefer; a brother, Edgar; and a grandchild.
He retired
from Minster Machine Co., where he had been a machinist for 41 years. He
served with the U.S. Army as part of the Japan occupation forces and was
a life member and past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9289,
St. Marys. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, American Legion
Post 323 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 767, all of St. Marys, and
the Minster Machine 25 Year Club.

He was a master
craftsman in woodworking and a member of Teamsters Union Local 114.

due to complications of kidney failure.
She was born
Sept, 26, 1967, in Celina. Her father, James E. Thomas, survives in Celina
and her mother, Juanita Lopez, lives in Piqua. On Sept. 23, 1988, she married
Darrell D. Berry who survives.

He retired
from General Motors after more than 30 years of service and served in the
U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of St. Albert the Great
Catholic Church, Kettering, the Moraine Senior Citizens and Osgood American
Legion Post.

15, 1952, he married Jacqualin Lou Vorhees who survives.

of Alpharetta, Ga.; a daughter, Lou Ann (Todd) Granger, Argyle, Texas;

in 1991 as a design engineer at Kennedy Manufacturing, Van Wert, after
20 years of service. He also worked at Continental Can Company, Van Wert.
A 1950 graduate of Rockford High School, he attended Ohio Northern University
and Findlay College. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church,
Celina, and a 32nd Degree Mason.

in Maria Stein.

are two brothers, Tom (Loraine) and Don, both of Maria Stein; and a sister,
Ann (Ron) Puthoff, Chickasaw.
He owned Metro-Team
in New York City. A 1965 graduate of Brunnerdale Seminary, he received
a bachelorís degree in music and a masterís degree in philosophy from the
University of Dayton. He also was a writer of philosophy.

She was born
Dec. 6, 1908, in New Bremen, to Gustave and Ida Waterman Wissman. On June
14, 1938, she married Homer R. Hoel who died in February 1973.
Surviving
are a son, David H. of Celina; a brother, Carl (Janet) Wissman, St. Marys;
and a granddaughter.
A brother,
Harold Wissman, is deceased.
She began
teaching in Celina in 1931 and taught first grade for 30 1/2 years. She
also worked part time at the Mercer County Public Library for 10 years
following retirement. She attended New Bremen Schools and the International
Business College, in Fort Wayne, Ind., and later received a bachelor of
science degree from Miami University, Oxford.
She was a
member of St. Paulís United Methodist Church, Celina, where she taught
Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the Shakespeare Club,
University Womenís Club, Ohio Retired Teachers Association and the Retired
Teachers of Mercer County. She also was a charter member of Delta Kappa
Gamma Society and a member and past worthy matron of the Celina Order of
Eastern Star.

Employees Retirement Association, Business & Professional Club and
the West Ohio Livestock Exchange.

owned and operated Wolff Tires in Celina for 28 years. He was a member

Post. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

a sister-in-law, Lucille Seibert, St. Marys; two grandsons and two great-granddaughters.

He retired
from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St. Marys, and worked as an auto salesman
at Baker Auto and Potbury Ford before working at Kerns Ford. He was a member
of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where he served as an usher, American Legion
Post 323 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 767, all of St. Marys. He
was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Battle of the Bulge during World

His mother survives in Coldwater. On Oct. 19, 1969, he married Linda K.

He worked
in the fabrication department of Braun Industries in Van Wert. He was a

at 4:45 p.m. Nov. 28, 2003, at Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville, Ky.
He was born
Jan. 8, 1913 in West Leipsic, to Peter and Caroline Strathman Karcher.
On July 20, 1937, he married Bertha Yaufman who survives.

are a daughter, Lyn (Tom) Mattingly, Louisville; six grandchildren and
four great-grandchildren.
Deceased are
a daughter, Sharon Lewis; a brother, Everett; and four sisters, Lenore

He began his
51-year career in the field of education in 1936 at St. Henry, where he
taught English and history and served as head coach of the basketball and
baseball teams. He also served as superintendent of the Kalida School District
and the Marion Local Schools in Maria Stein. In 1967, he was elected the
first lay president of Nazareth College in Kentucky. He was professor of
sociology and psychology at Kentucky State University. His last teaching
assignment was with the RICA program at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church
in Ottawa.
He graduated
from the University of Dayton in 1936, received a masterís degree from
Bowling Green State University in 1956 and was a doctoral level student
at the University of Louisville from 1964 to 1967.
He was a member
of the Putnam County Retired Teachers Association, Putnam County Council
on Aging, Putnam County Mental Health Board, Mercer County Council for

Fannie Jeanette
Lewis, 59, of Celina, died Nov. 29, 2003, at Joint Township District Memorial
Hospital, St. Marys. Death was due to natural causes.
She was born
Aug. 3, 1944, in Middletown, to Earman and Ida Mae Jones.
Surviving
with Delmer Lewis, her husband of 42 years, are two daughters, Susan (Barry)
Turner, Verona, and Brenda of Troy; a brother, Tom Jones; three sisters,
Frankie Jones, Ida Mae Sweeney and Betty Bowman; and five grandchildren.
She formerly
worked at Big Bear and was a member of Only Believe Ministries, Botkins.
Services are
10 a.m. Thursday at Morris Sons Funeral Home, Fairborn, the Rev. Peter
Doseck officiating. Burial will follow at Fairfield Cemetery.

6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Moeller
Douglas C.
ìDougî Moeller, 21, of Vandalia, died Nov. 30, 2003, in Huber Heights.
Death was due to stab wounds sustained during a street brawl in the
Dayton suburb. He was born Jan. 6, 1982, in Dayton, to Kevin and Cindy
Moeller. They survive in Vandalia.
Also surviving
are two brothers, Kevin and Daniel, both of Vandalia; and the grandparents,
Frank and Betty Barhorst, Piqua, and former Mercer County residents Earl
and Evelyn Jutte Moeller, Sidney.
He was a student
at Bowling Green State University and also had attended Edison State College,
Piqua. He was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church, Vandalia, and
a 2001 graduate of Vandalia-Butler High School, where he played football,
wrestled and was a member of the Distributive Education Clubs of America.
Funeral Mass
is 10 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Francis Keferl officiating. Burial
will follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery.
Calling is
4-8 p.m. Thursday at the church.

I. Paul Boroff
I. Paul Boroff, 87, of Venedocia,
died at 3:45 p.m. Nov. 29, 2003, at Van Wert County Hospital.
He was born April 14, 1916, in Mercer
County, to Harry and Annetta Jane Jones Boroff. On April 18, 1942, he married
Edith Mearl Workman who died May 10, 2002.
Surviving are a son, Paul Leslie
(Janell A.) of Van Wert; three brothers, Donald (Carolyn) of Hawkinsville,
Ga., Charles of Mendon and Richard (Lois) of Spencerville; a sister, Mildred
(Harold) Patrick, Converse; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was a farmer and worked 191/2
years as a manufacturing engineer at Teleflex Corp., Van Wert. He was a
1935 graduate of Mendon High School and a member of Spencerville United
Church of Christ, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, Acadia Lodge
306 Free and Accepted Masons, Spencerville Chapter 169 Royal Arch Masons,
Delphos Council 72 Royal and Select Masters and the Ancient and Accepted
Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday
at the church, the Rev. Ronald L. Shifley officiating. Burial will follow
at Spencerville Cemetery.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday
at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville. Masonic memorial rites
will be conducted there at 8 p.m.

Bertha Bruns
Bertha Sophia Bruns, 81, 418 West
North Street, Coldwater, died at 1:40 p.m. Nov. 30, 2003, at her residence.
She was born May 27, 1922, in Coldwater,
to Joseph and Anna Steggeman Wenning. On Oct. 9, 1945, she married Urban
Bruns who died Dec. 20, 1992.
Surviving are four sons, Paul (Judy),
Jim (Marg) and Ken, all of Coldwater, and Donald of Union City; a daughter,
Ruth (John) Peters, Ansonia; two brothers, Walter (Benetta) Wenning, Texas,
and James (Juanita) Wenning, Coldwater; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Cynthia;
a brother, William Wenning; and two sisters, Loretta Hemmert and Sally
Paulus.
She was a homemaker and a member
of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and St. Annís Rosary Altar Sodality, both
of Coldwater.

Donna Denney
Donna M. Denney, 77, formerly of
546 Locust St., St. Marys, and a resident of Valley Nursing Home, St. Marys,
died at 8:25 p.m. Nov. 29, 2003, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital,
St. Marys.
She was born Jan. 9, 1926, in Churubusco,
Ind., to Elmer and Rilla Sedam Longsworth. On Feb. 3, 1945, she married
Dellious Denney who died Sept. 3, 1987.
Surviving are a son, Gene (Judy)
of Norwalk; two daughters, Ida (John) Valentine, Canal Winchester, and
Joan (Bill) Ahlers, New Bremen; six grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Paul Longsworth,
and a sister, Ethel Harruff.
She worked at the former St. Marys
Cotton Mill and later was a housekeeper at Valley Nursing Home.
Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at
Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. James Nuhfer officiating.
Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.

Marie Froning
Marie J. Froning, 92, formerly of
Mill Street, Chickasaw, and St. Sebastian, died at 8:45 p.m. Nov. 28, 2003,
at Heritage Manor Nursing Center, Minster.
She was born Nov. 13, 1911, in Sharpsburg,
to John and Rose Kuether Sutter. On Sept. 11, 1934, she married Clem J.
Froning who died March 9, 1994.
Surviving are a son, John (Beverly)
of Lake City, Tenn.; six daughters, Sister Patricia of Owensboro, Ky.,
Virginia Stephenson, Wooster, Marge (James) Goecke, Coatsville, Ind., Judith
(Urban) Mescher, Maria Stein, Kathleen (William) Scholes, Fremont, N.H.
and Cynthia (Nicholas) Rammel, Montezuma; a son-in-law, James Brown, Tiffin;
30 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Joan, is deceased.
She had worked as cafeteria cook
and manager at Marion Local Schools for 17 years and also was a homemaker.
She was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church and the Rosary Altar
Sodality, both of Chickasaw, Catholic Knights of America, Cassella, the
Knights of St. John Auxiliary, Maria Stein, and the Rosary Altar Sodality
of St. Sebastian Catholic Church.

at the Chickasaw church, the Rev. John Bensman officiating. Burial will
follow at St. Sebastian Cemetery.

Doris Hoelscher
Doris J. Hoelscher, 60, 13343 Conover
Road, Versailles, died at 5:30 a.m. Nov. 28, 2003, in the emergency room
at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater. Death was due to natural
causes.
She was born Dec. 4, 1942, in Fort
Loramie, to Herbert and Helen Bergman Brandewie. On Feb. 19, 1963, she
married Richard F. Hoescher who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Michael
(Catherine) of Yorkshire; two daughters, Kelly (Greg) Ranard, San Angelo,
Texas, and Pamela (Terry) Daulton, Urbana; a brother, Daniel (Treva) Brandewie,
Fort Loramie; a sister, Sally (Louis) Dirksen, Portland, Ind.; 14 grandchildren
and a great-grandchild.
A son, Charles, is deceased.
She was a 1960 graduate of Fort
Loramie High School and a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Osgood.

Doris Imwalle
Doris Jean Imwalle, 71, 333 High
St., Newport, died at 9:05 p.m. Nov. 27, 2003, in the emergency room at
Wilson Memorial Hospital, Sidney.
She was born Jan. 12, 1932, in Fort
Loramie, to William H. and Margaret C. Lachey Raterman. On Oct. 3, 1953,
she married Walter L. Brandewie who died Feb. 13, 1963. On June 21, 1968,
she married Herbert J. Imwalle who died July 3, 1974.
Surviving are 10 sons, Steven J.
Brandewie, Anna, William P. (Joyce) Brandewie, Versailles, Daniel L. (Kristi)
Brandewie, Russia, Mark A. (Anita) Brandewie and Joseph H. (Connie) Imwalle,
all of Fort Loramie, Eric W. Brandewie, Newport, Michael A. (Mary Kara)
Imwalle, Mobile, Ala., Steven L. (Kris) Imwalle and Daniel J. Imwalle,
all of New Bremen, and David C. (Eileen) Imwalle, Tulsa, Okla.; and six
daughters, Shirley A. (Ron) Finkenbine, Anna, Michelle J. (Mark) Middendorf,
Fort Loramie, Linda L. (William) Meyer, Debra A. (Jack) Maurer and Kathy
M. (Jeff) Pape, all of New Bremen, and Connie S. (Walter H. III) Wright,
Houston.
Others survivors include a brother,
Paul W. (Kate) Raterman, Urbana; three sisters, Mary Lou Noonan, Texas,
Patricia Ann (Ray) Shouse, Arizona, and Peggy D. Cordonnier, Sidney; 45
grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She owned and operated Jeanís Beauty
Shop, worked as a bookkeeper for Meyerís Garage in Newport and was a Shelby
County Board of Elections worker. She retired from the communications department
at Wilson Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul
Catholic Church, the Ladies Sodality and the church prayer circle, all
of Newport.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday
at the church, the Rev. Anthony Cutcher officiating. Burial will follow
at St. Michael Cemetery, Fort Loramie.
