Harold Ashman
 Harold R. Ashman, 80, a resident of Valley Nursing Home and a former resident of 1015 Williams St., St. Marys, died 11:45 p.m. May 31, 2003, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
 He was born Feb. 7, 1923, in Celina, to Harry and Erma Berry Ashman. On Dec. 22, 1945, he married Dorothy Stone who died Feb. 14, 2000.
 Surviving are a son, Richard (Linda) of St. Marys; two daughters, Patricia (Gerald) Johns and Diana (Don) Martin, also of St. Marys; a sister, Madella Teeters, Celina; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
 Deceased are three half brothers, Carl, David and George, and three half sisters, Ruby Swank, Helen Hayden and Margaret Crouch.
 He retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St. Marys, after 42 years of service. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 767, St. Marys.
 Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys, the Rev. David Heinl officiating. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, St. Marys.
 Calling is 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys.

William Baggs
 William S. Baggs, 90, a resident of The Gardens in Celina, died there June 6.
 He was born March 17, 1913, in Portland, Ind., to Otis E. and Alberta B. Powell Baggs. On May 27, 1943, he married Mary Davis who survives.
 Also surviving are a son, Tom of Florida; three daughters, Peggy Sheaks, St. Marys, Nancy (Robert) May, Celina, and Susie (Mark) Stoner, Greenville; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
 Deceased are a son, John; a son-in-law, Mike Sheaks; three brothers, Jake, Holloween and Leonard; and three sisters, Mabel, Berniece and Goldie.
 He retired from the Ohio State Highway Patrol and Freuhauf Trailer Co. He also had worked as a U.S. Border Patrol guard. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a graduate of Celina High School and a member of the Fort Recovery Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.
 Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Richard VanHorn officiating. Burial will follow at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Celina.
 Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
 
Lawrence Bertke
 Lawrence V. ìCurlyî Bertke, 90, formerly of 9020 Mason Road, Sidney, died at 4:15 a.m. June 8, 2003, at Heritage Manor Nursing Center, Minster.
 He was born July 4, 1912, in Carthagena, to Joseph and Catherine Lehmann Bertke. On Oct. 18, 1941, he married Marcella Frilling who died July 9, 1998.
 Surviving are five sons, Jerry (Jane) of St. Marys, Don (Rosemary) and Dale (Lois) of Anna, Roger (Susan) and Lavern of Fort Loramie; three daughters, Elfrieda (Bernard) Sanders, Fort Loramie, Elaine (James) Moorman, Chickasaw, and Irene (John) Huntzinger, Piqua; a sister, Loretta Link, Montezuma; 24 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
 Deceased are two brothers, three sisters and two grandchildren.
 He retired from Avco New Idea, Coldwater, and farming. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, the St. Joseph Menís Society and the Apostleship of Prayer, all of Fort Loramie.
 Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Steven Shoup officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
 Calling is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10 a.m. Thursday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.

Louis Goecke
 Louis J. ìBingî Goecke, 76, 8376 Ohio 119, Maria Stein, died at 3 p.m. June 7, 2003, at his residence.
 He was born June 25, 1926, in St. Henry, to Fred and Francis Albers Goecke. On July 9, 1949, he married Madonna Hausfeld who survives.
 Also surviving are seven sons, Tom (Sue) of Rocky River, Fred and Mike of Maria Stein, Paul of Fort Loramie, Ken (Karin) of Middleburg, Pa., Phil (Karen) of Belle Center, and Tony (Lisa) of Liberty, Ind.; seven daughters, Jane (Scott) Goeller, Kettering, Kathy (Tim) Stonecash, Springboro, Judy (John) Townsend, Neptune, Doris (Carl) Hess, Maria Stein, Cindy (Dan) Chappie, Grier, S.C., Carol (Dave) Flora, Greenfield, Ind., and Marcia (Roy) Homan, Auburn, Ky.; a sister, Dottie Gavit, North Star; 44 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
 Four brothers and two sisters are deceased.
 He retired from Monarch Machine & Tool Co. and was a self-employed salesman. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of St. John Catholic Church, Maria Stein.
 Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Kenneth Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Samantha Heitkamp
 Samantha J. Heitkamp, 2, 117 E. Broadway St., Fort Recovery, died at 6:11 a.m. Saturday at Childrens Medical Center, Cincinnati. Death was due to natural causes.
 She was born May 31, 2001, in Cincinnati, to Rick and Christa Tobe Heitkamp.
 Surviving with the parents are a brother, Andrew, at home; paternal grandparents, Elmer and Julie Heitkamp, Fort Recovery; maternal grandparents, Robert and Jane Tobe, Fort Recovery; and a paternal great-grandmother, Esther Rosenbeck, Coldwater.
 She was a member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery.
 Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Paul Wohlwend officiating. Burial will be at St. Marys Cemetery, Fort Recovery.

Eugene Hemmelgarn
 Eugene E. ìWeenieî Hemmelgarn, 79, 1113 Yorkshire Court, Celina, died at 5:06  a.m. June 7, 2003, at his residence.
 He was born Feb. 1, 1924, in Fort Wayne, Ind., to Anthony and Frances Pleiman Hemmelgarn. On June 25, 1949, he married Kathleen Link who survives.
 Also surviving are a son, Jeff (Dianne) of Sarasota, Fla.; a daughter, Jane Seibert, Celina; two sisters-in-law, Rosemary Link, Celina, and Evie Link, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and four grandchildren.
 Deceased are two brothers, Cletus and Richard, and three sisters, Madonna Corbin, Rose Mary and Margie Hemmelgarn.
 He retired from New Idea in 1982 after 36 years of service as a material planning manager. He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Mercer County Elks, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and the American Legion Post, all of Celina.
 Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Richard Riedel officiating. Burial will be at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Celina, with military rites conducted by the VFW and American Legion.
 Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina.

Debra Maxwell
 Celina native Debra A. Maxwell, 44, 834 S. Shank St., Portland, Ind., died June 6, 2003, at her residence. Death was due to cancer.
 She was born Nov. 18, 1958, in Celina, to Donald and Joyce Schott Shively. They survive in Celina. On May 23, 1980, she married Sheldon Maxwell who survives.
 Also surviving are a son, Heath, and a daughter, April, both of Portland; and three sisters, Diane Neargarder, St. Marys, Dawn Jaggers, Nappanee, Ind., and Della Shively, Celina.
 Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home, Portland, the Rev. Phil Jellison officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory, Muncie, Ind.
 Calling is 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Kenneth Moorman
 Mercer County native Kenneth F. Moorman, 78, 7589 S.E. Bay Cedar Circle, Hobe Sound, Fla., died June 6, 2002, at Hospice House in Stuart, Fla.
 He was born Aug. 12, 1924, in Coldwater, to Ferd and Cecila Weyer Moorman. His wife, the former Edna Mays, survives.
 Also surviving are three sons, Gary (Liz) of Tipp City, Mike (Bianca) of Louisville, Ky., and Ken of Celina; a stepdaughter, Karen Krieger, Michigan; a brother, Edgar (Rosemary) of Coldwater; a sister, Alberta (Clarence) Eckstein, Celina; a brother-in-law, Merle Schlosser, Vinita, Okla.; two sisters-in-law, Lillian and Pauline Moorman, both of Coldwater; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
 Deceased are four brothers, Sylvester, Wilfred, Arthur and Anthony; and two sisters, Dolores Schlosser and Virgene.
 A graduate of Coldwater High School, he retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
 Services will be held later at the convenience of the family.
 
Leona Schmidt
 Leona C. Schmidt, 95, South Third Street, Coldwater, died at 1 a.m. today, June 9, 2003, at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater.
 She was born Jan. 29, 1908, in St. Peter, to Anthony and Rose Miller Siegrist. On May 6, 1930, she married Henry Robert Schmidt who died Dec. 20, 1999.
 Surviving are five sons, Charles (Vera) and Ivo (Roseann) of Coldwater, Virgil (Velma) of Chickasaw, and Paul (Janet) and Urban (Sandy) of Goshen, Ind.; two daughters, Virginia Walterbusch, Celina, and Eileen (Clem) Eckstein, Greeville; 24 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
 Other survivors include two brothers, Urban Siegrist, Fort Wright, Ky., and Edwin Siegrist, St. Peter; a sister, Imelda Wilker, St. Marys; and five sisters-in-law, Mary Catherine and Delores Siegrist, both of St. Peter, Rose and Johanna Siegrist, both of Fort Wright, and Romania Ranly, St. Marys.
 Deceased are a son-in-law, Elmer Walterbusch; three brothers, Otto, Odilo and Ivo; two sisters, Barbara Kreutzjans and Celine Homan; and three grandchildren.
 She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and a member and past president of St. Ann Rosary-Altar Sodality, St. Cecilia Knights of St. John and the Community Hospital Volunteers, all of Coldwater.
 Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.

Helen Hime
 Helen Hime, 79, of Celina, died at 3:28 p.m. June 5, 2003, at the Miller House in Celina.
 She was born March 8, 1924, in Penfield, Ill, the daughter of William and Margaret Marron Dorsey. On June 26, 1945, she married Irvin Hime, who died in April 1975.
 Survivors include three daughters, Linda (Jerry) Piper, of Celina, Deborah (Ron) Weitzel, of New Weston, and Cheryl Gossetts, of Nevada; a brother Joe Dorsey, of Penfield, Ill.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
 She was preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters and a grandson.
 A member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina, she was a retired nurse from Shane Hill Nursing Home and also retired as a nurse with the Mercer County Health Department.
 Services are at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Thomas Brenberger officiating. Burial will follow at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Celina.
 Calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Cisco Funeral Home in Celina.

Blair Scofield
 Blair J. Scofield, 80, 5201 Shore Drive, Celina, died on June 5, 2003, at Hospice of Hamilton at Sunrise, in Hamilton.
 He was born Aug. 3, 1922, in Hamilton, the son of Lyle and Grace Scofield. His wife, Mary Frances Steenbergen, survives.
 Other survivors include two daughters, Candee (Gordon) Jeffries, Somerville, and Cindy (Ted) Brown, Lexington, Ky.; a sister, Imogene Goos, Hamilton; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
 He is preceded in death by a sister, Melva Duvall.
 He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1942 to 1946, and worked in the family business of L.E. Scofield Window and Door and also bar tended at several Hamilton establishments. He retired to Celinaís lakefront in 1980.
 Services are at 11 a.m. Monday, at Webb Noonan Funeral Home, Hamilton. Visitation is one hour prior to the service.
 Contributions can be made to Hospice of Cincinnati.
 
Lowell Gilbert
 Lowell E. Gilbert, 79, of Uniondale, Ind., died at 8:05 p.m. June 5, 2003, at his home.
 He was born May 21, 1924, in Blackcreek Township, Ind., the son of John B. and Reeta Dowty Gilbert. On March 5, 1948, he married Jeanne Hower, who survives.
 Other survivors include four sons, John M. of Portland, Ind., Robert W. of Bluffton, Ind., William H. of High Ridge, Mo., and Charles L. of Richmond, Ind.; two daughters, Teresa (Douglas) Carr of Rockford, and Judy (John) Brehob of Greenwood Ind.; two brothers, Darrell L. of Bluffton, Ind., and David I. of Middletown, Ind.; four sisters, Ruth (Dale) Arnold of Uniondale, Ind., Lois Shearer of Huntington, Ind., and Carol (Jerry) Day and Joyce (Lester) Robert, both of Bluffton, Ind.; nine grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and great-grandchild.
 Deceased is a sister, Janet Cluster.
 A World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army, he was a farmer and a member of the Farmersí Union and St. Paul Lutheran Church, in Uniondale, Ind. He was also a member of American Legion, post 111.
 Services are at 10:30 a.m. at Goodwin Memorial Chapel, Bluffton, Ind., with the Rev. Otto Dorsh officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery, where a grave side service will be conducted by the American Legion.
 Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Goodwin Chapel.

Evelyn Buzard
 Evelyn R. Buzard, 88, 232 East Columbus St., St. Henry, died at 9:43 a.m. June 6, 2003, at Wayne Hospital in Greenville.
 She was born June 29, 1914, in Dayton, the daughter of David and Mildred Wigton Kinnear. On March 23, 1935, she married John W. Buzard, who is deceased.
 Survivors include two sons, Kenneth W. (Mary) Buzard, and John W. Jr. (Debbie) Buzard; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
 She was preceded in death by two brothers,David and Fred; and two sisters, Helen and Mildred.
 She retired from Hobart Manufacturing of Greenville in 1976.
 Services are at 2 p.m. Monday, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, with the Rev. Lowell Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.
 Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Bernadetta Heil
 Former New Bremen resident Bernadetta E. Heil, 95, died at 5:20 p.m. June 5, 2003, at Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community.
 She was born July 22, 1907, in Minster, to Bernard and Bernadine Menkhaus Weghorst. On Jan. 29, 1930, she married Clarence Heil who is deceased.
 Surviving are a stepdaughter, Catherine Grundish, St. Marys; and five stepgrandchildren.
 Deceased are a stepson, Arthur Heil; a brother, Raymond Weghorst; and a stepgrandchild.
 She worked at the former Seiberling Latex Co. in New Bremen and retired as a telephone operator at GTE She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen.
 Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, the Rev. John W. Tostrick officiating. Burial will be at German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.
 Calling is after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Adam Marchal
 Adam M. Marchal, 22, 145 Royal Oak Drive, Greenville, died at 4 p.m. June 4, 2003, at Wayne Hospital, Greenville. Death was due to cancer.
 He was born July 20, 1980, in Greenville, to Frank and Colleen Hiatt Marchal. They survive in Greenville.
 Also surviving are a brother, Alex C., at home; maternal grandmothers, Phyllis Isenbarger Hiatt, Versailles, and Patrick Hiatt, Waynesville; and paternal grandmother, Adele Marchal, Versailles.
 A paternal grandfather, Paul N. Marchal, is deceased.
 He was a 1999 graduate of Greenville Senior High School and a junior at Ohio State University. He received Greenvilleís Character First Award in September 2002 and was a member of Oakland Church of the Brethren, Greenville, and the Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity. He was an honorary member of the Darke County OSU Alumni Club. During high school, he participated in football, basketball, track, the Waveaires and the National Honor Society in addition to serving four years as a class officer.
 Services are 7 p.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Fred Bernhard officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery near Gettysburg at the convenience of the family.
 Calling is 2-9 p.m. today at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville.

Loretta Meyer
 Loretta K. Meyer, 97, formerly of 64 E. Fifth St., Minster, died at 3:02 p.m. June 5, 2003, at Heritage Manor Nursing Center, Minster.
 She was born Oct. 4, 1905, in Minster, to Joseph and Caroline Gausepohl Helmsing. On Sept. 25, 1928, she married Alfred C. Meyer and he died June 13, 1973.
 Surviving are two sons, Jack (Marilyn) of Rochester, N.Y., and Thomas (Nancy) of Minster; a daughter, Bonnie Frierott, Greenville; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
 Deceased are a son-in-law, Rolland Frierott; three brothers and four sisters.
 She was a homemaker and a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster.
 Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Louis Schmit officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Kenneth Myers
 Kenneth Gene Myers, 83, of Rockford, died at 3:07 a.m. today, June 6, 2003, at Colonial Nursing Home, Rockford.
 He was born Oct. 14, 1919, in Stark, Ill., to David Henry and Nellie Francis Williams Myers. On June 14, 1947, he married Loverda Howell who survives.
 Also surviving is a sister, Virginia Strete, Celina.
 Another sister, Fern Smith Smalley, is deceased.
 He was a farmer and a member of Rockford United Methodist Church, Shanes Lodge 377, Free & Accepted Masons, Rockford, and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks 1197, Van Wert.
 Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, the Rev. Mike Berne officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
 Calling is 2-7 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

James Temple
 James E. Temple, 65, 5490 Behm Road, Celina, died at 11:30 p.m. June 4, 2003, at Veterans Administration Hospital, Dayton.
 He was born Sept. 1, 1937, in Celina, to Guy and Doris Houts Temple. Ruth Gross, Bluffton, Ind., his former wife, survives.
 Also surviving are a son, Paul (Rose), Natchez, Miss.; two daughters, Donna (Kevin) Brickley, Bluffton, Ind., and Diann (Ray) Maynard, Thornville; a son-in-law, Richard May, Port Charlotte, Fla.; four brothers, Donald (Sharon), Tom (Nancy) and Steve (Tina), all of Celina, and Larry (Joyce), St. Marys; and eight granddaughters.
 A daughter, Barbara May, is deceased.
 He was a retired truck driver and a U.S. Navy veteran. He  was a member of St. Marys American Legion Post 323 and helped to organize an annual food drive for the needy.
 Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys. Burial will be at Botkins Cemetery near Montezuma.

Mary Brooks
 Coldwater native Mary Agnes Brooks, 80, of Dayton, died June 2, 2003, at Betheny Lutheran Village, Dayton.
 She was born Feb. 13, 1923, in Coldwater, to August and Theresa Rutschilling. On June 22, 1946, she married Dewey Hobson Brooks Jr. who died Oct. 1, 2002.
 Survivors are three sons, Dan (Cindy) of Boston, Mass., Robert (Rae Ann) of Bellbrook, and Steve (Mary Jo) of Beavercreek; a daughter, Teresa of Alexandria, Va.; two brothers, Mark (Rosevelyn) Rutschilling and Paul (Grace) Rutschilling, both of Coldwater; two sisters-in-law, Mary Ann and Edna Rutschilling, both of Coldwater; and two grandchildren.
 Deceased are two sisters, Marcella and Delma Rutschilling; and three brothers, Theodore, Louis and Urban Rutschilling.
 She was a homemaker and formerly employed as a secretary at Frigidaire, Dayton. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Dayton.
 Funeral Mass is 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Ken Schartz officiating. Burial is at Calvary Cemetery, Dayton.

Sandy Clem
 Former Celina resident Sandy Jane Clem, 47, 740 Christopher Drive, Marion, died at 11:45 a.m. June 3, 2003, at her home. Her death was due to cancer.
 She was born Sept. 9, 1955, in Portage, Wis., to Ivan James and Betty Carol Zanto McDuffee who survive in Bloomington, Ill. On Sept. 15, 1979, she married William H. Clem who also survives.
 Other survivors are a son, William A. of Marion; a daughter, Shannon (John) DeSantis, Marion; a brother, Scott McDuffee, Bloomington.; and four sisters, Sheryl Monical, Shelley (Doug) Peden and Susan (Jamie) Phelps, all of Bloomington, and Sally (Charles) Taylor, Fairbury, Ill.
 She was a retired supervisor of customer relations at the former G.T.E. plant in Celina, and later Verizon of Marion. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, and former director of the education committee and member of the churchís Ladies Circle. A 1973 graduate of Normal Community High School, Bloomington, and Bluffton College, she was a member of Pleasant High School Boosters.

Carolyn Johnson
 Carolyn S. Johnson, 66, of Rockford, died at 11:18 a.m. June 4, 2003, at The Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
 She was born June 23, 1936, in Chesterfield, Ind., to Perry and Jean I. Grier Brandon. In October 1970 she married Paul E. Johnson who died June 22, 1993.
 Survivors are three sons, Clinton O. Smith and Daniel G. (Lisa C.) Smith, of Celina, and Rance of Rockford; a daughter, Kachina of Rockford; two brothers, Jack Brandon, Fort Wayne, Ind., and Paul (Janet) Brandon, Downyville, Calif.; and a grandson and three stepgrandchildren.
 Deceased is a twin brother, Michael Brandon; and a sister, Martha Jane Wilson.
 She was a homemaker and formerly worked as a waitress at Motor Inn Truck Stop, Mercer. She was a member of New Horizons Community Church, Rockford, Order of Eastern Star, Hagerstown, Ind., and a charter member of Mercer County Saddle Club.
 Services are 7:30 p.m. Friday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, the Rev. Robert Loar officiating. Burial is at 11 a.m. Saturday at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortyville, Ind.

Hilda Bruggeman
 Hilda M. Bruggeman, 91, formerly of Stelzer Road, Maria Stein, died at 12:32 a.m. June 4, 2003, at Community Hospital, Coldwater. She had been a resident at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater, for 10 years.
 She was born Aug. 27, 1911, in Wendelin, to Frank and Clara Pokamp Brunswick. On April 11, 1934, she married Raymond B. Bruggeman who died Feb. 9, 1997.
 Survivors are two sons, Melvin (Betty) of McCartyville, and Robert (Carol) of Coldwater; three daughters, Mary Ellen (Floyd) Niekamp, St. Henry, Clara Jean (Fred) Hein, Chickasaw, and Lilly Mae Mock, Portland, Ind.; a sister, Laura Franks, Celina; a daughter-in-law, Cathy of Indiana; 24 grandchildren, 19 stepgrandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
 Deceased is a son, Dennis; a son-in-law, Ray Mock; five brothers; a sister; and two grandchildren.
 She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Carthagena, and the St. Monica Rosary Altar Sodality.
 Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Catholic Church, Cranberry, the Rev. David Hoying officiating. Burial is at St. Aloysius Cemetery, Carthagena.

Janice Griner
 Janice E. Griner, 65, 212 Stallo Road, Minster, died suddenly at 8:23 a.m. June 3, 2003, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
 She was born Nov. 23, 1937, in Fort Loramie, to Clarence and Henrietta Kaiser Meyer. On May 29, 1957, she married Thomas Griner who survives.
 Other survivors are two sons, Terence (Lisa), and Michael, both of Minster; two daughters, Kathleen M. Mueller and Peggy L. Mueller, both of Minster; a brother, David (Dorothy) Meyer, Fort Loramie; a sister-in-law, Marcia Schulze, Fort Loramie; and seven grandchildren.
 She was a homemaker and retired bookkeeper and member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster. She also was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie post 1391, Minster.
 Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Louis Schmit officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
 Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday and 9-9:45 a.m. Saturday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.

Katherine Kaminiski
 Former Celina resident Katherine B. Kaminiski, 54, of Canton, died unexpectedly May 22, 2003.
 She was born April 14, 1949, in Canton, to John and Odessa Marion who are both deceased.
 Survivors are three daughters, April Dobransky, Angie Love and Lisa Kaminsky, all of Canton; and eight sisters, also of Canton.
 Deceased is a son, Jason Allen Hodge.
 She was employed at the Canton Regency Retirement Center.
 Services were held May 27, 2003, at Reed Funeral Home, Canton, the Rev. Raymond Tucker officiated.
 Her body was cremated following services.

Dorothy Wickelman
 Dorothy E. Wickelman, 88, a resident of Celina Manor Nursing Home, died at 1:50 p.m. June 3, 2003, at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
 She was born Sept. 14, 1914, in Trinity, Ind., to Clem and Margaret Willhoff Wickelman.
 Survivors are five nephews, Norbert of Xenia, Hugo Anderson, Kalamazoo, Mich., Larry Reinhart, Toledo, and Wendelin Reinhart and Gene Reinhart, address unknown; and a niece, Patricia Rettich, Camden.
 Deceased is a brother, Lawrence Wickelman; and three sisters, Hilda Reinhart, Lucille Geier and Erma Anderson.
 She had been a live-in caregiver for many years, and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Celina.
 Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Richard R. Riedel officiating. Burial is at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Celina.

 Carrie Elizabeth Hoyng, 91, North Second Street, Coldwater, died at 9:07 a.m. June 2, 2003, at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
 She was born July 30, 1911, in Carthagena, to John and Amelia Dabbelt Boeke. On Nov. 26, 1936, she married Paul Hoyng who died Dec. 21, 1987.
 Surviving are three sons, John of Columbus, Carl (Vicki) and Mark (Linda), both of Dayton; two daughters, Mary Ann (Gene) Reichert, Celina, and Rita (Gary) Haliena, Seneca, S.C.; a brother, Paul Boeke, Bartlesville, Okla.; a sister-in-law, Lucille Boeke, Coldwater; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
 Deceased are two brothers, Raymond and Werner; two sisters, Coletta and Magdalene; and two grandchildren.
 She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and its St. Anns Rosary Altar Sodality.
 Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Thomas Mannebach officiating. Burial will follow at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.

Leonard Clausing
 Former New Knoxville resident Leonard George Clausing, 95, a resident of Fairhaven Retirement Community, Sandusky, died at 11:50 a.m. May 30, 2003, at Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Sandusky.
 He was born Dec. 24, 1907, in Auglaize County, to A. F. William and Caroline Henschen Clausing. On Sept. 14, 1933, he married Lenora Viola Hoelscher who survives.
 Also surviving are two sons, Larry (Judy), of Tiffin and Don A., of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Zella Schmidt, New Bremen; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
 Two brothers, Ferdinand and Albert, and a sister, Olga Paul, are deceased.
 He was a retired farmer and a member of First United Church of Christ, New Bremen, were he taught Sunday school and served as a deacon and elder. He also was a member of the Auglaize County Farm Bureau.
 Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. David Hunt officiating.
 Calling is after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

 She was born Feb. 22, 1916, in St. Marys, to Burl and Jennie Burris Curts. Her husbands, Frank Hutchings, Charles McMurray and Clifford Hoenie, are deceased.
 Surviving are two nephews, Robert (Sandy) Curts, New Knoxville, and Edward Curts, Celina.
 Deceased are a brother, Alfred Curts, and a sister, Opal Weaver.
 She retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, both of St. Marys.
 Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Herb Berry officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.

Artiff Mertz
 Artiff ìArtieî Mertz, 68, Ohio Street, Wapakoneta, died at 12:55 a.m. June 1, 2003, at St. Ritaís Medical Center, Lima.
 She was born April 27, 1935, in Wapakoneta, to Vince and Ruby Naylor Thitoff. On June 7, 1952, she married Clyde V. Mertz who survives.
 Also surviving are a son, Clyde V. of Wapakoneta; three daughters, Darlene (Thomas) Smith, Sunbright, Tenn., Christine Johnson and Tamara (Ron) Fullen, both of  Wapakoneta; a brother, Donald E. (Mary) Thitoff, Wapakoneta; a sister, Kathy (Richard) Goodroe, Snellville, Ga.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
 A sister, Pam Cooper, is deceased.
 She was a homemaker and a waitress at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 691, Wapakoneta. In addition to the Eagles Auxiliary, she was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and Koneta Chapter 385, Order of Eastern Star, also of Wapakoneta.
 Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bayliff and Eley Funeral Home, Wapakoneta, the Rev. Gregory Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta.
 Calling is 7-9 p.m. today, 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Tuesday and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Eagles Auxiliary will conduct a service there at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

John Schmidt
 John J. Schmidt, 92, formerly of the Anna area, died June 1, 2003, at Heritage Manor Nursing Center, Minster.
 He was born April 13, 1911, in Fort Loramie, to William and Frances Meiners Schmidt. On June 18, 1935, he married Clementine H. Boeke who died Aug. 25, 1984.
 Surviving are two sons, Kenneth of Sidney and Gerald of Botkins; two daughters, Janet Hoying, Anna, and Karen (Ralph) Balster, Mesa, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
 Deceased are two brothers, four sisters and two grandsons.
 He was a retired farmer and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, McCartyville.
 Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Patrick Welsh officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
 Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Cromes Funeral Home, Sidney.
