The Daily Standard has published our selection of 'World Pictures' for almost ten years. It started as a result of seeing so many pictures on the Associated Press wire service that illustrate breaking news, current events, natural wonders, foreign cultures and the human condition. But most of these images could never have fit in our print edition. As of a week ago, The Daily Standard switched to a tier of service from the AP more appropriate for a newspaper of our size. Unfortunately this tier does not have carte blanche access to AP pictures, and we will be retiring our 'World Pictures' feature. Thank you for learning about our world with us through 'World Picts'.

In this image released on Tuesday, June, 13, 2023, three Heineken trucks drive by a windmill in the Netherlands to deliver the world's most widely recognised - yet misspelled - beer brand. No, this isn't a typo… Heineken is misspelt on the truck exteriors to reflect the brand's 150th anniversary campaign, which celebrates all of its common spelling mistakes and colloquial nicknames globally. For its 150th, Heineken wants consumers to know that it doesn't care how they spell it as long as they have good times with it, one way or another. (Heineken via AP Images)
