The Daily Standard has published our selection of 'World Pictures' for almost ten years. It started as a result of seeing so many pictures on the Associated Press wire service that illustrate breaking news, current events, natural wonders, foreign cultures and the human condition. But most of these images could never have fit in our print edition. As of a week ago, The Daily Standard switched to a tier of service from the AP more appropriate for a newspaper of our size. Unfortunately this tier does not have carte blanche access to AP pictures, and we will be retiring our 'World Pictures' feature. Thank you for learning about our world with us through 'World Picts'.

Visitors walk along an elevated path at next to "Supertrees" during a light and sound show at Gardens By The Bay in Singapore, Monday, July 17, 2023. The giant structures are meant to mimic real life trees by providing shade from the sun while also capturing the sun's energy using solar panels at the top. They range in size from the tallest, at around 50 meters (164 feet), down to 25 meters (82 feet) tall. (AP Photo/David Goldman)
