A deep housing market slump and sharply higher mortgage rates are doing little to rein in U.S. home prices. The S&P's CoreLogic Case-Shiller home price index, which tracks the value of homes in 20 major U.S. metropolitan areas, climbed to 4.9% in October from a year earlier.
