The Daily Standard has published our selection of 'World Pictures' for almost ten years. It started as a result of seeing so many pictures on the Associated Press wire service that illustrate breaking news, current events, natural wonders, foreign cultures and the human condition. But most of these images could never have fit in our print edition. As of a week ago, The Daily Standard switched to a tier of service from the AP more appropriate for a newspaper of our size. Unfortunately this tier does not have carte blanche access to AP pictures, and we will be retiring our 'World Pictures' feature. Thank you for learning about our world with us through 'World Picts'.

Transit Workers take part in a guided relaxation class Friday, May 17, 2024, in the Brooklyn borough of New York. The class, held at a union hall for New York City transit employees, has emerged as one of several ways in which transportation workers around the country are trying to manage their fear and anxiety over a rise in violent crime on subways and buses.
