New record for Minster girls golf

The Minster girls golf team missed out on its goal of making the state golf tournament after finishing fourth at the district tournament on Tuesday at Sycamore Springs in Arlington.
The Wildcats did break their 18-hole record at the tournament with a round of 352, besting the old mark by 10 strokes.
St. Ursula Academy of Toledo captured the district team title with a 324. Glass City rival Notre Dame picked up the other district slot with a 337. Both head to The Ohio State University's Gray Course next weekend to play in the state tournament.
Brooke Kuenning paced the Wildcats with a round of 84. Midwest Athletic Conference co-Player of the Year Regina Slonkosky shot an 85. Andrea Paxson carded a 91 with Lindsay Piening adding a 92 while Danae Spieles finished with a 107.
Celina also had their team at district, finishing with a team score of 462. Kelsey Moorman led the Bulldogs with a round of 108 while teammates Ellen Bryan and Gina Everman both shot 117. Tabitha Knous came in with a 124 with Abby Welker rounding out the group with a 128.
New Bremen's Becky Hartwig completed her season at district with a round of 101.
VOLLEYBALL
Flyers hold off Cardinals
Marion Local kept a share of second place in the MAC in winning a three-game battle at New Bremen on Tuesday.
The Flyers (17-3, 5-2 MAC) beat the Cardinals 25-23, 25-22 and 25-22 to hold on to a share of second with New Knoxville, which the Flyers end the regular season with next Tuesday.
Megan Barhorst had 11 kills for the Flyers, Danielle Langenkamp added 25 digs and Katie Schulze dished out 15 assists.
Stephanie Winner paced the Cardinals (10-10, 3-4 MAC) with 15 kills while Taylor Jones had 24 assists.
On Thursday, Marion Local hosts St. John's while New Bremen hosts Fort Recovery.
Cavs rough up Blue Jays
Coldwater continued its winning ways, beating St. John's in three games at The Palace.
The Cavaliers improved to 13-6 overall and 3-4 in the MAC with scores of 25-12, 25-21 and 25-11.
Lindsey Bruns led Coldwater with 11 kills and three aces. Kelly Lefeld added 10 kills with Marla Hess dishing out 27 assists.
Coldwater hosts Versailles on Thursday.
Rangers down Wildcats
New Knoxville improved to 17-2 overall and 5-2 in the MAC with a three-game win over Minster.
The Rangers won 25-16, 25-18 and 25-13.
Nicole Wright had 14 kills with Alycia Niemeyer adding 13 kills and three blocks.
Lauren Ranly had six blocks and four kills for the Wildcats. Erica Poeppelman added six kills and Janel Baumer had 12 assists.
Minster is at St. Henry on Thursday. New Knoxville hosts Parkway.
Roughriders get WBL win
St. Marys won a five-game match over Elida at Cook Gym on Tuesday, improving to 4-15 overall and 3-5 in the Western Buckeye League with the win.
St. Marys won games one and three 25-19 and 25-22 while the Bulldogs won games two and four by matching 25-23 margins. St. Marys took the fifth game, 15-7.
Emily Shellabarger had 19 kills to pace the Roughriders while Rachel Ginter had 41 assists and 21 digs.
St. Marys hosts Bath on Thursday.
GIRLS SOCCER
Roughriders blank Wildcats
St. Marys improved to 10-4-2 on the season with an 8-0 win over Bath at West Elementary.
Chelsea Waterman and Ali Ferrall each had two goals for the Roughriders. Single goals were scored by Katie Burke, Erica Nagel, Kaysha Dietz and Macy Ferral. Dietz and Sam Davenport each had two assists.
On Monday, the Roughriders picked up a 3-1 win over Fort Jennings. Katie Heitkamp led St. Marys with two goals while Ferrall had one goal to go along with Dietz's two assists.
St. Marys opens tournament play next Wednesday against Delphos Jefferson at Bath High School.
