Donald Smart
Donald E. "Don" Smart, 66, of Spencerville, died at 9:49 a.m. Nov. 14, 2006, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, following an extended illness with cancer.
He was born Sept. 21, 1940, in New Hampshire, Ohio, to Walter T. and Jessie O. Gall Burd.
Survivors are two sons, Wesley (Kim), and Allen, all of Spencerville; five daughters, Lisa (Mitchell) Bracy, Lima, Patty (Reed) Clark and Amy (Keith) Bracy, all of Wapakoneta, Judy (Lance) Ringwald, Spencerville, and LaNell (Jim) Parker, Cridersville; a brother, Eugene (Sandy), Celina; eight sisters, Helen (Dale) Carlson, Wapakoneta, Edith Doenges, Colon, Mich., Jessie Louise Monfort, St. Marys, Darlene Klett, Findlay, Kathleen (Larry) Craft, Cheboygan, Mich., Dorothy (Harry) Taflinger, Hernando, Fla., Mary (Terry) Berkshire, Garrett, Ind., and Ruth (Mike) Seller, Portland, Ind.; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He worked as an upholsterer at Wierwille Furniture Factory, Spencerville, and later became a partner in Wierwille Upholstery Company, Spencerville, and owner of Smart Upholstery Company, St. Marys. He was a graduate of Spencerville High School and member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 691, Wapakoneta, and the Bantam Car Club.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville, the Rev. Ron Lee officiating. Burial is at Spencerville Cemetery.
Calling is 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
