Taking aim

Personnel from the Ohio Army National Guard based in St. Marys conducted training Saturday on a new piece of equipment, the Laser Shot, which simulates target shooting and helps teach the fundamentals of firing an M16-A2 rifle. In addition to the shooting simulation, recruits progressed through five different stations at the Armory addressing various aspects of military know-how. Above, Cory Mescher, a senior at St. Henry High School, takes his practice shots with the laser equipment. The American flag on his uniform features the field of blue facing front indicating (the country) is charging forward (at war). When the stripes are forward, the country is retreating.
