Ramping up plans for a park

Ryan Goodspeed, 16, of Celina, sails through the air during a skateboarding event at the old Wal-Mart store in Celina on Saturday. The old store was open all afternoon for kids to bring in their skateboards, ramps, rails and boxes, while a DJ played music. More than 120 kids showed up, with $1,160 raised from admission and concessions. All of the money will be deposited in a Mercer Civic Foundation fund, to be used toward a future skate park in Celina.
