A day to remember
Photo by Shelley Grieshop/The Daily Standard

Guards lead Jesus, carrying the cross, past weeping women. This was during The Living Way of the Cross, held at St. Mary Catholic Church in Philothea on Wednesday evening. Jesus was portrayed by Brad Homan. Numerous junior high and high school students from the Coldwater cluster of parishes participated in the event that organizers say is in its seventh year. The performance was received by a large audience despite the fact that roof work left the production without electrical power and no heat. Improvised lighting of all types, including a lantern and shop lights, helped illuminate the church so the show could go on. Organizers say many of the costumes were purchased in recent years at the senior citizens garage sale for the "low-budget" event that the children look forward to each Holy Week.
