Reporter places second in Associated Press contest

Daily Standard reporter Betty Lawrence won second place as Best Columnist in the 2006 Associated Press newspaper contest. Awards were distributed Sunday during a banquet in Columbus.
The Daily Standard competed in Division II for newspapers with a daily circulation of 8,000 to 12,999.
Lawrence won for her monthly Naturally Speaking column. She has been with the Standard for nearly 40 years and also is in charge of the Town & County page.

ST. HENRY - For the Coldwater Cavaliers, there was a great deal on the line Tuesday afternoon as they played the St. Henry Redskins in Midwest Athletic Conference action at the Wally Post Athletic Complex.
MINSTER - It was perfect weather for the Minster Memorial and while the St. Henry boys defeated New Bremen and defending champion Minster, the Minster girls reclaimed the other portion of the title, outpointing second-place Versailles and third-place Delphos St. John's.
