Robert Schrolucke
Robert E. Schrolucke, 83, of rural Spencerville, died June 4, 2007, at his residence. Death was due to a sudden illness.
He was born Feb. 20, 1924, in Noble Township, Auglaize County, to Leo H. and Inez R. Casperson Schrolucke. On July 3, 1946, he married Rosemary J. Sutton, who died Oct. 24, 2006.
Surviving are three sons, Rex E. (Suzanne), Williamsburg, Jack (Dianne), Spencerville, and John (Cathy), Glendale, Ariz.; a daughter, Judy (Archie) Sawmiller, Spencerville; a sister, June (Robert) Ainsworth, Yuma, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, William; a sister, Mary; and a grandchild.
He worked at Nameplate and Mongram Company, Spencerville, owned and operated Bob's Electric and Plumbing, Spencerville, and was an electrician with IBEW Union Local #32, Lima, working mainly for Reynolds and Warren Electric Companies. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe, and received four Bronze Stars. He was a 1942 graduate of Spencerville High School, a member of American Legion Post 191, Spencerville, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6772, Spencerville, where he served eight terms as past commander, seven years as quartermaster, was elected all-state commander in 1971-1972 and National Aide de Camp in 1971. He started the Spencerville Summerfest and was a member and past president of Northwestern Ohio Field and Stream Association.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville, the Rev. Rex E. Schrolucke officiating. Burial is at German-Zion Cemetery, southeast of Spencerville, where military rites will be performed by the VFW and American Legion.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
