Anna Whitaker
Former Cridersville resident Anna E. Whitaker, 84, of Miller House, Celina, died at 2 p.m. June 8, 2007, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
She was born Oct. 6, 1922, in Hardin County, to Royal and Rosie Coppler Nichols. Her husband, John Henry Whitaker, died March 3, 1986.
Surviving are three sons, Larry, Grove City, Gary (Dru), Celina, and David (Sherrie), Toledo; a sister, Francis Nichols, Lima; a half brother, Larry Nichols, California; a half sister, Joyce Sharpeless, Detroit, Mich.; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Robert and Junior Nichols.
She was a homemaker and worked as a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service of St. Johns. A graduate of Alger High School, she was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church, the Clay Rebekah Lodge 321, the Old Fashion Garden Club, the Sunshine Homemakers Club and the St. Johns Fire Department Auxiliary, all of St. Johns. She also was a member of the Superior Coach-Sheller Globe Retirees Club and Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary Lodge 691 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8445, both of Wapakoneta. She was an Auglaize County poll worker and wrote the St. Johns News for the Wapakoneta Daily News.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, Wapakoneta, the Rev. Pamela A.K. Hanlon officiating. Burial is at Salem Cemetery, Westminster.
