St. Marys native Gene Hawkey of Elyria gives a campfire cooking lesson to his daughters, Julie, 6, left, and Samantha, 8, at the Grand Lake St. Marys State Park campground. Hawkey, a former ranger with the National Park Range in the Virgin Islands, and his wife, Tammy, a former naturalist, said there's plenty to do at the local state park including this weekend's first-ever Father's Day activities.
